Dr. and Mrs. Walker greet the students at a reception following his return from India. Dr. Edwin R. Walker President Th rough foresight and careful planning, Dr. Edwin R. Walker has shaped the growth of Queens and the edu- cation of Queens students. This year he traveled extensively through India, and he helped to broaden the students’ outlook by including them in descriptive accounts of his travels. Dr. Walker met informally with the President’s Board, composed of the presidents of classes and organiza- tions, in order to exchange ideas. Because of his respect for both tradition and progressive change, Dr. Walker has helped Queens move with stability toward the future. Page Eighteen

Administration The administration otters challenges, but it does not force the student to accept them. Although the administrators shape and present ideals, only the student can take these ideals as her own. 1 he faculty offers further stimulation. hether it is through lecture, class discussion, or personal conferences, the students respond and learn and produce. Aiding in daily decisions and momentary crises is the staff. These persons touch nearly even part of the college way of life and work for the comfort and efficiency of student living. It is through the cooperation and unified effort of these three guiding groups that the students of Queens mature both mentally and spiritually. Dr. Shealy and the Babbs intently watch the skits presented at the reception for Dr. W alker. Dean Gebhardt displays the projects of her Children’s Art Class. Page Seventeen
