CHI OMEGA Suzann Morton, Vice-President-, Kit Lyon, Secretary; Rae Ellen Beebe, Pledge Trainer; Betsy Thomson, Treasurer. Chi Omega returned in the fall. Rush came—we sang our old songs with renewed vitality, and twenty-three top- notch pledges were welcomed by both Chi O’s and the annual Charlotte monsoon season. Halloween found us at Carolina as guests of the Chi Phi’s—also attending was the Great Pumpkin. Endless hours were spent in practicing for Sorority Sing, and this year we had an added attraction: Charlotte and her harp. We shared Christmas by adopting a local family of ten, completely outfitting each, and providing their Christmas dinner. In February, our four-vears-overdue national visitor came to call. With Marion’s expert advice, we had the best initiation week we’ve had for years; and to top it off, at the initiation banquet Hope and Ann were selected as the “bestest.” Parties during the year included our faculty coffee in March, a combo party with the ADPi’s, and the party our pledges gave for the freshmen—featuring Bohannon in grass skirt and Mr. Hadley in gray flannel suit. Graduation, sadness in singing In the Shades of Evening,” and frantic packing completed an unforgettable year.
