m emonum Dr. f. Russell Boner 1901 - 1956 In the fall of 1956 Queens suffered the loss of a great friend and leader in the death of Dr. |. Russell Boner, professor of economics. In three short years Dr. Boner had served Queens in countless ways and left behind him many accomplishments. Among other things, he helped in working out the new curriculum and set up the procedure for the wise expenditure of a large fund that had been given to the college for new library books. In his own field of study he succeeded in improving the courses to such an extent that Queens came to have an outstanding economics department for a small liberal arts college. To those of us who were not here before he came, it seemed that he must have always been here as part of the life and work of Queens. Such was the strength ol his inlluence in many phases of campus life. We recall his sense of humor, the kindness that he showed us, the long patient hours spent in teaching us, his brilliant lectures which made his subjects interesting and alive. We shall remember him as a professor and active participant in the life of the college, as well as a kind friend who was gennineb concerned about our problems both in class and out.
