Panhellenic Council The Freshmen learn how the Queens dress. Fun at Frida1 night coffee. m Let's do something different for the Spring Dance. The Panhellenic Council of Queens College this year centered its activities around the theme “A Gracious Queen.” The Council began presenting the theme to the school h sponsoring a freshman assembly. During this assembly the Council presented a lash- ion show pointing out “what the w ell-dressed Queen wears “where. Particular attention was paid in this meeting to the duties of the perfect hostess and the correct use ol the various pieces ol silver. Panhellenic Council this year planned to make the Friday night coffees more enjoyable bv having a holiday coffee each month. All organizations on the campus had an opportunity to sene altcr-d nner coffee. Rush w 7eek first semester was held Octo1 er 24-29. All pledge services were held on October 30. In an effort to nnke Panhellenic Workshop more valuable to the individual member and the sorority, the date was changed to early fall. This year the Council secured for j 7 O its main speaker Mrs. Julia Fuqua Ober, a past National President of Kappa Delta Sorority. The annual progressive dinner which Panhellenic Council sponsors for the faculty was held in the spring. Each sorority served a separate course, and the members of that sorority served as hostesses. All faculty members were invited to this dinner and were urged to bring their husbands and wives. O O A need has long been seen on campus for the training of I Iospitalitv W eekend host- esses. Panhellenic Council volunteered to undertake this training for this year. The first training program was held in October. 1 he Council tried to instruct the hostesses in all phases of their work so that they could show to their guests the real Queens. The Spring Dance week-end was held after Easter. An informal dance, a picnic, and the formal dance were included in the big w'eek-end. Panhellenic Council is composed of a president and twro members from each sorority —the president and a member at large.
