Homecoming and the Harvest Festival found us awaiting the announcement of Queens. With second semester came the feeling that we were over the Hump and that spring could not be far away All this, and more transpired in DRAGONLAND, 1975. CHICO HIGH CHOOL DRAGON As the days pass and the year comes to a close, we sincerely hope the 1974-75 Dragon will bring back many happy memorie of the past. To Honor a Special Person l l DELBERT RAYMOND SYNOVEC A good friend, a competent student, an enthusiastic athlete and liked by everyone are phrases which describe Delbert, who will always be in the hearts of those who knew him. During his 4 years at CHS, the 1975 yearbook dedicatee, excelled in many areas. Delbert was an outstand- ing athlete and student body leader. Two of his many honors for which we will best remember Delbert are Nlost Friendliest and Best All-Around Student. They worked many long, hot hours with the district title their goal. Although they did not win district, the Dragonetts finished with a 7-5 district record. The team averaged 47 points a game, while their opponents averaged 44.6 points. Becky Cox, starting senior forward and Deborah Haworth, starting junior for- ward, were high scorers for the season. Becky averaged 19.55 points per game, while Deborah averaged 18 points. Deborah and Becky walked away from the Bridgeport, Boyd, and Decatur Tournaments with All-Tournament honors. Bettie Morris, a starting sophomore guard, who averaged 4.83 rebounds a game, was named to the All-Tournament teams at the Boyd and Decatur Tournaments. Debra Musick, a senior guard, led the defensive rebounding with 5.50 rebounds per game. Kris Synovec and Sandra Bowyer brought down 4.65 and 3.22 rebounds respectively for the Dragonetts this season. The wins the Dragonetts earned were done so by the entire team's effort and by some fine coaching by Larry Mader. W . . 39 I nexperience Plagues Dragons Dominated by tough competition the entire season, the Dragons allowed their opponents to average 68.52 pts. a game while they were able to avg. only 52 pts. a game. Tony Cox, junior, averaged 15.19 points a game and was named to the all tournament team at the Bridgeport tournament. Keith Blanks, sophomore, averaged 10.82 points a game. These two players, plus 10 others will be returning to the court next year with hopes of a more successful season. There are some strong members on the girls track team returning this year in hopes of furthering their success from last year. Beverly Musick, 440 run, will try to make it to state to better her regional try in '74. The 880 relay team placed 9th at regional and they will try to better this record also. f' Deborah Haworth, Beverly Musick, Bettie Morris and Gi Rhonda Womack are the members of that 880 relay team. Bettie Morris, sophomore, placed 3rd in the 880 run and 3rd in high jump and is working for that lst place honor xx which will entitle her a trip to state. The boys spring season in track and baseball was a rough one in '74. However, they are working hard this spring to better last years' record and have hopes of some district titles. The volleyball team placed 2nd in the district tournament in '74 and are vying K ll for first place this season. Coaches for these sports are Bag- Z . His enthusiastic participation in school activities is evidenced by his being elected president of the senior class. Despite his busy schedule, Tim still found time to participate in football, basketball and track. He was also class favorite his junior year and voted Nlost Athletic. Tim's witty sense of humor and his good looks make him a good choice for Most Attractive. Most if t I' t i Tim Hand Donna Richey Donna's pleasant disposition and her friendly personality are just a few of her outstanding characteristics. She stays busy as an FHA officer and vice-president of the pep squad. Because of her neat appearance, attractive looks, and poise, CHS chose Donna as Most Attractive. 53 Success follows Mike everywhere he goes. Besides his ability to achieve academically, Mike is able to win at rodeos-his favorite sport-because of his sincere determi- nation and hard work which he applies to his talent every- day. Knowing this, the CHS student body voted Mike Most Likely to Succeed.
