Under the direction of Don Newman, the band performed at ball games, in parades, at OU Band Day and the Annual Band Banquet. They received superior ratings in Field Marching at the Regional Marching Contest. The Band entered all events ot Tri-State Music Festival at Enid in May. They received Superior Ratings in street marching and Ex- cellent in other events. Once again, this year, the Band has done more than its part in bringing honor to Chickasha High School. Our Chickasha Chapter was named the outstanding chap- ter of the state. Also the Chapter's Miss Mia Chaney was named the state outstanding student. A first place trophy was also obtained in club procedure, creative photography, darkroom technique, cosme- tology, and general safety. ' VICA Education does not mean teaching people what they do not know. It means teaching them to be- have as they do not behave. lt is not teaching the youth the shapes of the letters and the tricks of numbers, and then leaving them to turn their arithmetic to roguery, and their literature to lust. lt means, on the contrary, training them into the perfect exercise and kingly continence of their bodies and souls. It is a painful, continual, and difficult work to be done by kindness, by watching, by warning, by precept, and by praise, but above all - by example. In the time where a calculator, or a computor can solve a problem much more rapidly and easily than a human, the fact still remains that a human has to feed these machines. The students of Math realize that the basic fundamentals of solving a problem are still needed. They are kept aware of this by Mr. Claude Welch, Mrs. Lynda Bailey, Mrs. Clorinda Knowles, Mrs. Patsy Linn, and Mrs. Pat Smart. N AM 35 www Science Classes Because of the great strides being made in the field of Science today, Mrs. Maxine Goss, Mrs. Vernetta Clampitt, Mrs. Lynda Whitener, Mrs. Mable Wallace, and Mrs. Pat Smart are kept busy with helping the students to learn more about the world we live in, and how we can best perform in it. It happens in a flash and the memory of it lasts forever. It cannot be bought, begged, borrowed nor stolen, but it is some- thing that is no earthly good to anyone until it is given away. So if in your hurry and rush you meet someone who is too weary to give you smile, leave, one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as the one who has none left to give. - Copied Ulf Vllieg-3 Mclry Alice Terry The Senior class bought the most annuals percentage-wise and therefore made the selection of king and queen. ,C h1 ha tl' C 21 Y 0 R yawn .xi -A 'K e Jimmy Doug L.
