Those days of the past, those memories will be recalled by many things, but primarily by the diary of our lives. ln it we find the joys and sorrows, pleasures and duties, people and places that made these twelve years of our education the birth place of our personalities and careers. To whatever success our aspira- tions may lead, we will return and in our yearbook find the stucrdy framework upon which this same success was built. Not only has he done much to enhance the reputation of our school through his excellent coaching abilities, but has also ably helped us with many of our personal as well as scholastic problems. Therefore, we, the graduating class, respectfully dedicate the 1958 Eagle to Mr. Anthony Apichella. df This yearbook would not be complete without a word of thanks to the ones who gave unselfishly, without thought of personal achievement, of their time and patience to help us obtain our goals. Therefore, we, the Class of '58, dedicate this page as a small token of our appreciation to our sponsors, Miss Lillian M. Barnett and Mr. Roy E. Corkadel. From left to right: I-I. Quirk,I. I ones, I . Young, G. Panarello, F. Dowman, I. Wasley, W. Dutton, E. Pierce, M. Pierce, E. Richards. From left to right: L. Thoemke, M. Scott, I. Truitt, L. Barnett. We, the Graduates, wish to express our thanks and appreciation for all the help rendered to us by the School Board and P. T. A. We are especially pleased with the work that has been done by the School Board in promotingabetter understanding of scholastic phases, plus the innumerable sessions put in to iron out the problems which have arisen. But equally important is the work being done by the P.T.A. for the advancement of a better understanding between parents and teachers. To both of these go our deepest thanks and appreciation for everything they have done. Card I, S1lvest J. Robinson 'fiigf-,f' CIM Sunday, September 7, 1978 Dear Diary, I awoke this morning to the sound of the Jupiter Z, Rocket zooming thru the sky. As I marveled at this great advance in Science, I recalled having read that it had been designed by those four great Scientists, ARTHUR BEER, HELEN PERKINS, JERVIS GWYNN, and ART HAMILTON, that it had been built by the best mechanics in the busi- ness - GALEN RIM, RONNIE SCHMIDT, HERSHEY IR- WIN, RICHARD KILPATRICK, and RAYMOND KENNARD. It was extremely difficult for me to get out of bed this morning. Oh, well, that's what happens when you stay up till all hours of the morning listening to the dreamy music of CHARLES CALLOWAY and his great band of musi- cians which includes JIM MARSHALL, GARY GREEN, ERNIE LOCKE, FRED GREEN, and BILLY HINTZE. Singing with this famous band were the world known sing- ers, ELWOOD ROBINSON and IDA SILVESTRI. At the same night club where Charles and his band are breaking all attendance records, I was entertained by the famous Rockettes of 1978, - ROSE RUSSO, IRENE WHITBY, LORETTA PERKOWSKI, BARBARA L. HARRIS, KATH- RYN MCDONOUGH, and DORIS DUNLAP. When I finally forced myself out of bed, it was after 12:00, so I turned on the radio to hear the latest news de- port by STEPHEN POORE. My neighbor told me that Stephen is so busy he has hired three private secretaries- JOYCE POINTER, LIZ ALLEN, and ELAINE DOWNER. I got dressed, went to church and after returning home decided to lay around and rest up for the busy week to come. I decided that I would watch the Roller Derby fea- turing TOM BAKER and then turn on the fights to see the Champion, BOBBY WHITE, defend his title. Just as I was ready to go to bed, I received a phone call from my talkative neighbor, BEVERLY LEAKE, who told me that the former HELEN BRISTOW and her husband are planning a world tour. I finally turned out my light around midnight. Monday, September 8, 1978 Dear Diary, As I read my morning paper, I saw that DONALD MILLER and KARL KAMINSKI were both running for the Presidency of the United States. Good luck to both of them. BILL JONES and NORM HARRIS made front page news by breaking all speed records with a 1000 mile high. I also noticed that GILLIAN BUNNER has been madea Five Star General and has been appointed Secretary General of the planet Mars. While burning my toast, 1 also burned my hand. I phoned Nurse MAXINE REVIS on my Thought- O-Phone, fa great invention by DONALD NICKLEI, and after receiving my thought waves she rushed right over with her secretaries - SALLY BROWN, JUDY POSEY, and JOE SHORT. The secretaries took notes to present to the American Medical Society. This harrowing exper- ience spoiled my plans, so I stayed home and read the Book of the Month, written by ALZIRA LOPES and WALTER PARKER. Tuesday, September 9, 1978 My taxi, driven by PAT STAVER arrived and drove me to the National Museum of Art. On the way to the Mus- eum, I saw that CAROL WOOTEN had run intoa milk truck and was up to her hubcaps in milk from the JAMES POWELL Dairy. When I paid Pat for the luxurious ride through town, she gave me my change in 2-headed nickels, manufactured by DAVID WATKINS. The museum was crowded to capacity. Everyone was anxious to see the art exhibits of JOSETTE PRANGE. MARLENE HORNE, and BARBARA TOLAN. Wednesday, September 10, 1978 l'0l9 05? I was thrilled when I received two free tickets to a private showing of fashions designed by OREAN SEMONES. Orean's styles are the rage of the entire universe. Upon close examination of the tickets, I found that they had been printed by ROBERT SANFORD and BILL IVERSON. This is one event that I don't want to miss. Thursday, September ll, 1978 I hadn't been to a basketball game for quite a while so I decided to go see the World Champion Boy's Team play the World's Girl Champion Team. Looking at my program, I saw that LAURA JONES, PHYLLIS BRADY, LAURA HIPKINS, and DORIS PHILLIPS were the top scorers for the girls and that EMILIO CONTE, RON PASSICK, WES LAWRENCE, and SONNY CARDOSA led the boys in scor- ing. It was the most exciting game I had ever seen. At half time the boy's team was ahead by 6 points. During intermission I saw BARBARA TRUITT and her Anti Boys' Club. I saw that BEATRICE SAMMONES, BARBARA EVANS, LORETTA TRIBBETT, BARBARA HARRIS, and JOAN ANN ROBINSON have joined the club. lsaid hello to them and went back to see the last half of the game. Wow! what a game. The girls finally won by 20 points. I heard that Vivian and Phyllis were going to play in the Olympic Basketball game. Friday, September 12, 1978 At Orean's fashion show, I, purchased one of her famous creations for the Cocktail Party of the great orator AL- FRED MCLEOD. The party was given in honor of Queen JUNE LEES of Gardendale, and was the social event of the year. Among the more famous quests were: Comedians, JAMES McCUE and MARY GALBRAITH, fthey put on a comedy skit that brought down the housejg the world famous Latin translator, NORMAN RITTERSON, fhe was a pupil of James Craneyj, the couple voted tops of the ten best dressed in the world, SOFIA BOHENEK and DICK DUR- BANOQ and last but not least, the personalities voted most athletic for the entire Lmiverse - LARRY DURBANO, JUNIOR ROBINSON, and VIVIAN WARREN. Not only were we surrounded by famous people, but the food prepared by Chef DOUGLAS BECK and his assistant MIKE RICCI was superb. Saturday, September 13, 1978 Although I was awfully tired after Alfred's party, I boarded my train, driven by CALVIN GORDON, and was on my way to see the undefeated Eagles - JERRY BEN- DER, DINO RAPPOSELLI, BOB KRENTZ, BUTCH CARA- MONICA, and RICHARD BUMFORD play against the un- defeated Bats . While reading my newspaper, I saw that the cheering for the game was to be led by CEIL CLARA, KIT WHITE, and PAT GIDUCK. Also in the same article, I saw that ROBERT SIMMONS was to photograph the game. He won the Nobel Prize for Photography. On the Society Page, I read that JUDY CRAVEN, GER- TRUDE LEWIS, SALLY KURTZ, and FRANNIE KRAINZ are all celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. After the game, which naturally the Eagles won, every- body went to the theatre to see JOYCE SATTERFIELD in her 12th Broadway hit. Joyce was sensational and she was backed up by a stupendous supporting cast, which included - GEORGE LAUGHERY, MARYANNE Mc CLELLAND, and JUDY PRYSLAK. The play was the most movingl have seen and the scenery designed by JOHN JAMES, MIKE JAMES, and SANDY OUTLAR was breathtaking. As I left the theatre, with the din of applause ringing in my ears, I thought of the exciting week that had passed and I could see that the Class of '58 was indeed a pros- perous group. agif .xdnal jeafamenf We, the Senior Class of 1958, being in our right mind, do bequeath and bequit, leave, give and get rid of the following members of the Senior Class--- to put in their high place these lowly creatures: I Frank Albany leave my hair to Ray Bell. The admiration shown by the students and the hard work on the part of the drill team has contributed to their becoming the Pennsylvania State Champions. Our Cheerleaders, with co-captains Cecila Clara and June Lees, have been a great asset in the victories of our athletic teams. The color and festivities of our athletic games were heightened by the performances of our vivacious cheerleaders. BOTTOM ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT: W. Bates, J, Marshall, G. Scott, J, Koletar, L. Junto, W. The danceband and chorus, both under the direction of Mr. Joseph DeAugustine, have presented many entertaining programs for the students and faculty of Chichester. The chorus gave a Candlelight Service at Christmas and they are planning a Choral Concert in the spring. The danceband has given many entertaining assemblies and has played for the school dances. This is the first year that Mr. DeAu- gustine has worked with the danceband and we here at Chichester feel that he has done a superb job. F-7, . Lgjfuclenf Counci Dear Diary: Looking back through the year, the Student Council has experienced and obtained more power in the conduction of school activities than ever before at Chichester. The credit belongs to its members, officers, and sponsors. I know the class of 58 will always remember the second annual bon- fire, the many ideas brought back from other Student Council organizations, such as the auction day, and the first edition of the .Student Handbook. The Student Council also sponsored busses to away games and improved the monitor system in the halls as well as in the cafeteria. I know through all these achievements the Student Council is progressing to a higher standard at Chichester. B, Jones, D. Flowers, D, Knight, G. Zinszer, S. Beauchamp, D. Esbin, A. Sack, C.
