Dave Brandt 4 Martha Tilfon. mah 'L W Y We, the Class of 1956, present the television edition of The Eagle. Television is awindow to the universe, from across thousands ofmiles it brings to us faces as well as sounds. Television can bring the world to the home and the classroom. With it you can hear and see spot-broadcasts and spot-telecasts of events whilethey are happening. You can iourney in your chairs to distant parts ofthe world and participate as listeners and eyewitnesses in events that make history. You can travel backward across the centuries with guides who know the past, and witness great events of yesterday that made the world what it is today. You can sit in conferences and forums, and see 'and hear talks by world authorities in every field. Just as television brings to the public, significant and worthwhile happenings, We, the class of '56, hope that in the days to come you may pick up this annual and recapture treasured moments. 2 466 Swv ik 'x In charge of seeing that some elght hundred students are fed porperly and well versed In the socral graces Mrss Peracles has unfllnchrngly contributed to the growth of Chichester Miss Perucles no matter how busy always funds tame to lend a helpung hand or to grve some advuce to someone an need An so we the Class of I956 consider Ita great honorand pnvrlege todeducate our annual to MISS VICTORIA PERIC LES for all that she has contrnbuted to our school 4 . . . . . . . . . . f . . . . . l I . . . . . . . . . . . 'gag Zz famine Zaadezffaii The best that can be said about a team with a record of two victories and eight losses is, lt's better to have played and lost than never to have played atall . According to Coach Nugent the team had offensive potential but it definitely lacked the ability to perform as a defensive unit. There may beasilver lining with- in the dark cloud however, for it is his opinion that the offensive ability of this year's team, compiled with the defensive ability of last year's club, should produce an out- standing varsity combination in 1958 when they are iuniors and seniors respectively. 47 ff' 0,0 no sf 'Q Af 1 6: Q1 6 . yu .. v v if ,- C' 4 'J V, .liemmoxfca R. The group was hurriedl briefed about the situation andytoldthat they were to be attacked by five enemy combat teams coming from Edd stone, Marple New- town, Collingdale, Sharon Hill, and Nether Providence. Battle plans were made and each mem- er re ce i ved his assignment. They were to hold their ground on defense, then take the of- fensive and drive the attackers back into the enemy end zone. lnexperience was pre- valent among the sixty eager candidates, but they accepted 'Uma their task and began preparing for the a t ta c k e rs enthusiasti- cally. Led by Captain Tom Scully, the team, with Shank and Fryat tackles, Whidlund and Conboy at guards, Evans atcen- ter, Whitby, Byrne, Schnait- man, Ralston, Segear, Bill, and Killian in the backfield, and Driscoll ond Farber pairing with Scully at end, finished the cam- paign with two victories two de- feats, and one tie. On two occasions the team went down to defeat, but they were never outfought. This spirit of determination should make each boy an asset as he takes his place on the varsity squad. 395 A A film FIRST ROW, LEFI' TO RIGHT: Mr. Steyck, N. Sack, J. Byrne, G. Rapposelli, W.
