Little. liver since she became our adviser when we were sophomores. Miss Little has personally attended to the business of class meetings. dance decoration and the many other jobs to be done. Our activities could never have been carried on without her able assistance and expert guidance. Many were the times we were dis- couraged. but Miss Little always managed to come up with a solution to these problems. She has been more than a teacher to the students of Upper Chig she has been a good friend and a capable adviser. Yes. we owe a great deal to Miss Little, a person for whom that extra bit of time and work was never too much trouble. It is therefore with deep and profound feel- ing of gratitude that we dedicate our yearbook to Miss Mary E. Little. As Sophomores we selected Chris Panarello, President, jane Peters, Vice President, Marilyn Lowe, Secretaryg joan Krupka, Treasurer. The above mentioned officers have served us con- sistently throughout our high school career with the exception of the Vice Presidency which was occupied in our junior year by Clifton Whittaker and in our Senior year by Charles Hughes. Our junior year saw us obtaining class rings, sponsoring three dances, a play, the Junior-Senior Party, and co-sponsoring the junior-Senior Prom. As Seniors we produced the Senior Play, Our Town. Four dances were sponsored in addition to an unforgettable prom. The year was concluded by our trip to Wash- ington and Commencement. + HL 1-Vin' n-M-.pain rf 3 . SCOTT'S H1-Q Scotts Hi-Q is a scholastic competition among the twenty-one high schools in Delaware County. The following people made up the Scotts Hi-Q team rep- resenting our school: William Miller, Richard Aaron, Clifton Whitaker, Jane Peters, and Audrey Murphy. Our representatives competed against St. james, Collingdale, Upper Darby, Ridley Township, Clifton Heights, and Marple Newton. The questions that are asked are based upon gen- eral knowledge of history, biography, current events, literature, geography, and science. The Upper Chi squad is advised by Mr Harry L. Hutchison who has given many hours to this project. Miller, Aaron. Peters and XVhit- talfer try to locate the Irawati River on the map while Mr. Hutchinson reflects that two points were lost because our geographical knowledge was sketchy. Ralph Conte, a ninth-grader, proved outstanding as left halfbackg Ralph should be an asset to next year's varsity eleven. While all the boys played well, Louis Bender, Bob Bogie, and Larry Durbano showed much promise for the future. With players such as these, Upper Chi is assured some decided wins in the future. As Mr. Kalitkman, the coach, often says: This is a period of developing skills. Many varsity players such as Curry, Durbano and Zitnick received their basic training as a member of a junior high squad. Over a four year period, Bill Curry scored 120-1 points. In this year's competition, he set the county record for this year by scoring -46 points in the final Clifton .Heights game. Upper Chi can look forward to strong support from the Durbano tlan. NUI1lbJ,ll setond only to Curry in the point department, will be succeeded on the court by the Durbano twins. Dickie and Larry. The Curry name in basketball will be carried on by young David Curry.
