Our record in this field is based upon the many prizes won in competition and the awards made to individuals for outstanding work in the area of architece tural design. This tradition proves that the students of the Palace possess creative ingenuity as well as basic intellif gence. Manv of the students begin work in industry even before completing their studies. Many have also gone on to continue their studies in this field at the college and even graduate level. One of the very important needs of current American society is the construction of attractive as well as functional housing. Students following this avocation have always evidenced a high interest in the problems which beset the average community in the building field. Undoubtedly manv of our graduates will become the bulwarls in the drive for better housing and more conscious planning of communities. Our students have carried away prizes from many metro- politan design contests as well as scoring very well in the Ford Industrial Arts Contest. ive feel that they are carrying on in a great tradition here and are doing their part very successfully in making this tradition even greater. Une photograph shows Robert Toolc Qstandinga and Dave Trzcinslti examining some of the complicated bluc- prints and checking the accuracy of measurements that are a necessary part of any well designed plan. hir. Light, Power and Communication Another of the traditions of which we are justifiably proud is the record that the Cavaliers have made in the field of electricity and its more modern counterpart, electronics. Again we see a field that has contributed so very much to the development of this country and to its posi- tion of world leadership. Terrence Nowaliowslii and Mike Steczo are inspecting electrical equipment used in the teaching of electrical theory and practice. Pictured during the installation of a complie cated wiring system are Robert Mc Cully and lohn Beebe. Upon completion of this course the students should be able to take their places in any ine dustry which demands the services of a com- petent electrician. lf the student so desires, he should be able to continue his studies and eventually become a qualified electrical engi- neer. Walter Daniels and lohn Dyrek are examin- ing a radio chassis while Michael Lett and Henry May are watching the operation of an ocilliscope. These shots were taken in the elec- tronic shop which is more commonly known as radio and TVN. These students are in the process of become ing familiar with the principles of electronics. It is deemed entirely possible that some day not too far away these very same students will be the engineers and technicians who will forge the supremacy of the United States in the realm of space.
