Glenn Longfield, John Sturk, and Ray De- Vries are engaged in one of the fundamental operations in the necessary work on light planes, the first step in the construction of the final fuselage, covering the metal frame with canvas. In the meantime Logan, Kelleher, Goebel and Coglianese are working on the all-important power plant. Exercising the greatest skill and care, they are certain that these huge engines will he in perfect condition when called upon to provide the motive power for flight. lohn Skerniclc and lohn Shalileton are in thc Final phase of pre-flight assembly, and when their Work is completed this machine will pere form all that its design and manufacture calls For.

The Future Conquerors of Space and Time One of the newer elements in American lite is the field of aviation. ln this age of rapid transportation everyone recognizes the value of the airplane whether it be used for industrial purposes or for national defense. The courses in aviation, structures and power-plants, have been one of the integral parts of our curricular tradi- tion since CVS opened its doors. Many phases of the industry are included in the aviation shops here and. upon completion of courses here, qualified candidates may take the CAA. examination. lf they are successful in passing this test, the CAA. grants a certificate that enf ahles the craftsmen to work in the commercial field. Many of our graduates also continue their studies and become high salaried flying per- sonnel rvith the commercial airlines. Wle are justly proud of our tradition in this field and face the future fully confident that we shall be ahle to meet the challenges of the jet and rocket age.
