W7hat good is all this emphasis on tradition if it doesnt produce any results? the cynic might ask about this time. These two pages propose to prove conclusively that our traditions do pro- duce concrete results. Shown here are pictures of an awards assem- bly at which some of our Cavaliers received their prizes for two of the contest which they entered - the Ford Industrial Arts Contest and the Fisher Body Craftsmairs Guild Contest. ln the Ford contest Cavaliers took a grand total of S1760 in prizes for work in the fields of archi- tecture, machine design, electronics, silkscreen processing, patternmaking, foundry, electricity, cabinetmaking, sheet-metal, machine shop and printing. Herb Adams, who graduated in lune 1957. won a Sl,OOO scholarship in the Fisher Body Contest. Shown here are his sister, Betty CMrs. Russell Andersonl and his father, hir. Herbert Adams II, receiving Herbs award while Super- intendent Willis and hir. Crowe admire the award and the trophy presented to the Palace. Mr. Will O. Sullivan, Director Industrial Relations, Ford Motor Co.g Mrs. John B. Allen, Member of the Board of Education: and hh. Charles Hunter, General Superintendent, South VVorks, U. S. Steel, were present at the assem- bly and are pictured admiring one of the pro- jects which merited a prize in the Ford contest. Steve Ulanowski, John Cercy, Kenneth Iurek. Kenneth Prull, Nelson Sartoris, John Marko- vich, lames Vaslie, Ed Belson, Melvyn Skvarla. Robert Piersma, Richard Collier, and Raymond Westberg Cl. to rj register happiness, satisfac- tion and well deserved pride after being pre- sented with their awards merited in the Ford CODYCSTI. Robert Piersma, Melvyn Skvarla and Steve Ulanowski display their projects as well as their awards for entering the Ford contest. YVinning forty prizes out of a total of seventy- nine alloted to the entire state is a statistic that we think enforces our argument that our'tradi- tions are the finest and do produce excellent concrete results. 5 2 4s 1 -f-ff -,i .1 r ,z f , f , .
