The administrative staff and faculty of the Chicago Vocational School are keenly aware of the tremendous challenge which leadership in any field imposes. We have undertaken with unbounded enthusi- asm, the inspiring task of guiding what is destined to be the finest vocational school in the world. Our leadership has been greatly facilitated by a superb plant, matchless equipment, and an unrivaled faculty. To these unusual advantages we unhesitatingly add the privilege and honor of being identified with 'one of the world's foremost industrial areas and associ- ated with its public spirited leaders in every field of human endeavor. In a very appropriate sense the Chicago Voca- tional School is the immensely satisfying realization of a truly great objective by local citizens and lead- ers in commerce, industry, education, and civic af- fairs. These far-sighted Chicagoans recognized the need for a technical training institution of fabulous proportions capable of supplying the ever-increasing necessity for skilled craftsmen in many fields. They took their problem to the Board of Education, which authorized a study of the best features of the finest technical schools in the country for the purpose of planning and constructing a school which would an- swer the need and embody the most advanced ideas. Our Chicago Vocational School is the impressive proof of their vision, wisdom, and good citizenship. From the moment of its auspicious opening, through the arduous war years to the bright and happy present, the Chicago Vocational School has en- joyed the most pleasant associations with all the people of the community and its many famous and successful businesses. Community leaders represent- ing civic, fraternal, labor or industrial organizations have always been received at C.V.S. with the cordial- ity and respect their leadership and their people merit. The school is justly proud of its flawless repu- tation for ready, willing, and able assistance and co- operation in all worthy community projects. Its brief but distinguished history affords startling proof that it is indeed a school of the people, by the people, and for the people.

To My Son I will 1l0t say to you, This is the Wayg walk in it. For I do not know your way or where the Spirit may call youg It may be to paths I have never trod or ships on the sea leading to unimagined lands afar, Or haply, to a star! Or yet again Through clark and perilous places racked with pain and full of fear Your road may lead you far from me or near - I cannot guess or guide, but only stand aside. Just this I'll say: I know for very truth there is a way for each to walk, a right for each to choose, a truth to use. And though you wander far, your soul will know that true path when you find it. Therefore, go! I will fear nothing for you Clay or night! I will not grieve at all because your light is called by some new nameg Truth is the same! It matters nothing to call it star or sun - All light is one. ANONYMOUS

INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER COMPANY Wfisconsin Steel Division We of XVisconsin Steel NVorks, International Harvester Company, are most appreciative of the splendid cooperation demonstrated by the faculty of the Chicago Vocational High School in connection with our Employee-Apprem tice and Off-Hours educational program. R. A. LINDGRIZN Gemfral Szlpcri-zzfeznlmlf ROBERT E. L. BROOKS Incorporated As one of the original sponsors of the Chicago Voca- tional School during my term as president of the South Chicago Chamber of Commerce, it has been my pleasure to see this live and progressive institution develop, under the able guidance of its directors and teaching staff, into one of the most vital educational factors in the young people's lives in our community. Before final approval was given on the plans of this institution, a group of industrial and civic leaders from Southeastern Chicago, together with members of the staff of the architectural, legal, and educational departments of the Chicago Board of Education, toured a number of cities inspecting vocational schools. Many fine suggestions were received, and most of them were included in the final plans of the building program. In my humble opinion as a layman, we have one of the finest vocational schools in America. FRANK M. STANLEY Pl'l'SilIUlIli THE DAILY CALUMET We of this district, who waged a strenuous campaign for establishing the Chicago Vocational School in this region, feel that its outstanding service and achievement thus far compensated for all of our efforts. I am keenly enthusiastic over its educational contribution and extreme value to our community, its pre-eminence in our city, and the distinctive role it plays, educatively, in national institutions.
