This year, 1978, marks the 111th anniversary of the founding of our institution. And, as most of you know, CSU is the sec- ond oldest public institution of h igher learning in the state of Illinois. Many notable accomplishments have been achieved by the University since it began serving the Chicago metropolitan area under a host of other names. At a time when most universities are losing students, Chicago State Uni- versity ' s enrollment continues to increase — today we have well over 7,000 students attending CSU. Another classroom building is currently under construction and will be a valuable asset to the nine buildings now housing the University. New worthwhile and needed programs are constantly being developed. This year marks the formation of a new College of Allied Health, which now brings the number of colleges at CSU to five. You have witnessed first hand a significant number of these accomplishments. Now the time has come in your lives to graduate from Chicago State University. We have done our best to prepare you, both academically and socially, and we challenge you to use your education as a stairway to upward social and economic mobility.
