CM The Tuesday actiyity period has come to play an im- portant role in the weekly' school schedule. Cach Tues- day a special period is set aside for the student lo join any one of the many clubs according to his interests. The Phoiography Club. under the direction of Rabbi 5. Fabian has taught its members how to operate the yarious types of cameras. how to deyelop pictures. and how to operate the school sound projector and film-strips. Sponsored by Hr. Nl. Baron is the Chess and Checker Club which giyes the students a chance to play these world-famous games one against the other. lndirectly these games strengthen their powers of concentration. Debating on local. national. and world problems. .if the purpose of the Debating Club. Through debating. students learn public speaking, how to formulate their own opinions. and how to organize their thoughts. Nliss lf. Silverman sponsors this club. The girls haye an opportunity to brush up on oliice practice in the Commercial Club sponsored by Miss A. Brazda. They learn extra typing and shorthand skills. how to operate ollice machines. as well as ofiice etiquette. Linder the guidance of Rabbi M. .luzint are the boys and girls religious clubs. The most important project of these clubs is the religious publications. the 'N'loreh Uarech and the Burns Torah . They' also study' yarious dinim and their meanings. Many' of the girls have displayed an interest in Lih- rary Seryice. Nliss C. Cavallo, the librarian. has taught the girls basic library' science. such as classihcation and mending of books. Nlr. T. Hagensee conducts the Science lfiction Club. This club gives its members an opportunity of exploring the unknown in the realms of space and time. The Instrumental Group. under the superyision of Wir. l'. Nieyer. offers an opportunity to students who play yarions musical instruments to join the school orch- eslran. The Instrumental Group performs at many of the schools outside functions. The Boys and Girls Athletic Clubs, directed by Nlr. I. Silyer, are probably the largest clubs in the ,M-ademy. Nicmbers engage in the yarious seasonal sports. From this club are chosen the majority of the members for school teams.
