W Commanding Officer Captain Walter Theodore Piotti, Jr. was born in Newton, Massachusetts on April 19, 1934. He graduated from the Massachusetts Maritime Acad- emly in 1956 with a degree in Marine and Electri- ca Engineering. He was promoted to his pre- sent rank of Captain on July 1, 1974. Upon commissioning in August 1956 he was ordered to the U.S. Naval Communications Facility, Port Lyautey, Morocco for duty. He subsequently served as Engineering Officer aboard the destrogfers USS McKean CDDR- 784J and the US Cushing CDD-7975 during the period 1958-1960. In November 1960, he was part of the commissioning crew of the USS King CDLG-109 and served as Weapons Officer and later as Executive Officer until his detach- ment in 1963. From 1965-1967 he served as Executive Officer of the USS Richard E. Kraus CDD-8497 and from 1967-1969 Captain Piotti served as Commanding Officer USS Lester CDE- 1022i. From 1973-1974 he commanded USS Goldsborough CDDGDZOJ. Captain Walter T. Piotti, Jr. Captain Piotti is a graduate of theiU.S. Naval Post Graduate School at Monterey, California. He served as head of the Long Range Weapons Control Section of the Bureau of Naval Weapons from 1964-1965. rom 1969- 1972 he served as head of the Surface Missile Branch in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. Immediately rior to reporting to USS Chicago, Captain Piotti served in the Office of the ghief of Naval Operations as Execu- tive Assistant and Senior Aide to the Director, Navy Program Planning. Captain Piotti's personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze lata! lMedal, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Navy Commendation e a . Captain Piotti is married to the former RuthMarie Giroux of Newton, Massachusetts. The Piottifsl have three children, two daughters, Karen Leslie and Elaine Michele, and a son, Walter Scott.

Executive Officer Commander Robert 'lfhecdore Reimann was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on August 17, 1936. He graduated from Boston Universit and was commissioned from Officer CandidateQS,chool in lVlay of 1959. jf Upon commissioringr he was ordered to the USS GAINARD CDD-7065 where he served as Com- munications Officer and later as Weapons Offi- cer. He subsequently served as Executive Officer of the USS VAN VOORHIS CDE-1028J from 1963-1966 and as Executive Officer of the USS CHARLES H. ROAN CDD-8533 from 1968- 197O. From July 1970-January 1972 Com- mander Reimann served as Commanding Officer of the USS COURTNEY CDD-10213 and from Nlarch 1972 until August 1973 he commanded USS GARCIA CDE-10403. Commander Reimann is a 1974 graduate of the Naval War College. He served as Assistant Officer in Charge of the U.S. Naval School for Communications, and also as an Officer Perform- ance Evaluator at BUPERS from August 1966 until 1968.
