SZ Ji... JOHN S, CHAMNEY Chief When we talk of the number of students in Cheyenne School, people shudder at the thought of how large the school is today compared to what it was just three or four years ago. Those of us who were here then and who are now members of the large school, have been hoping against odds that Cheyenne Schoolwill not, because of its numbers, slip into the rut of the ordinary run of schools. Traditions that make Cheyenne School are ever clung to, with the hope that numbers will not de..- stroy the spiritwhich built the school, If you will look back closely at the various activities of the year, both academic and social, you will find that even with the increased participation we have not lost any of the real spirit of Cheyenne School. In fact, many of our new students have taken a firm position in the leadership inthe schooland have offered many helpful suggestions for doing things the Cheyenne way onalarg- er scale, Never before have we had so many students on our Ranger list. This year over twenty-five per cent of the high school students have received honor standing. Of this number, twenty per cent have been in the school less than two years. This is a fine record and one that all may be proud of. Cur social activities this year were well attended. The Christmas Dance and Pat's Pile Pic- nic were tops in my book, the latter proving that numbers have little to do with the failure or suc- cess ofa project. Next year the school has a great deal to look forward to . The new building has made it pos- sible to completely segregate the grade school from the high school and thus solve a problem which has increased with every new student. The student body is to be commended highly for their un- derstanding and cooperation with this problem of crowding, and can now look forward to more room in the halls, more frequent use of the auditorium and gym, as well as increased efficiency in the various services in the school. Iwould like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to the faculty and staff who have been so understanding and cooperative during this year of growth. May they, with me, look forward with great satisfaction to the enlarged facilities of next year. lt has not been easy for any of us, students and teachers alike, but fine cooperation has helped relieve the tension of the situation and will make the reward just that much more appreciated when the new plans are completed. S.
