When we put on our junior Class Play, Good Morning G1ory ? How warm it was the night of George's hayride? How we racked our brains trying to write our essays? Hah! The party for Dick, smoke in your eyes, while we nearly froze? How proud we were of our Senior Basketball stars? Not a defeat! Not much! Q How petrified we were of our own Bing Crosby? Those industrious Seniors who spent the whole noon hours studying their lessons? How fond Seniors are of Sophomores? Our excited feeling when we marched down the aisle on our Bac' calaureate night ? When we received our diplomas and realized it was the last time our class would be together? At last with a sigh, the time when we were but timid little Fresh- men, inconspicuous Sophomores, jolly Juniors, and finally proud Seniors ? How proud the Senior girls were of the boys' figures the day they wore dresses ? A11 the work we put out for the Ha11owe'en Carnival to make it a success, and so the kiddies could have playground equipment? These are but memories now, but when we recall them we can not help but regret that we must leave Chesterville High School, -el CLASS WILL OF '46 - We, the CLASS of 1946, of the CHESTERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL of the city of Cl-IESTERVILLE, in the COUNTY OF MORROW, STATE of OHIO, UNITED STATES? The juniors are a lively crew. There were thirty-two of us who entered the Freshmen ranks. We went through the usual fresh maneuvers without casualty and finally were promoted. Mary Lou Lane came to us from Fredericktown that year. Our Sophomore year started with a tragedy. We lost Lowell Jenkins and Donald Smith in an automobile accident. This grief dampened our spirits and we suffered a great loss in leadership. Robert Gartin, Eddie Stratton, Earl Clark and pale Nauman all left the class during the year, but we welcomed Kenneth Payne Lewis Beckett, Martha and Helen James as newcomers which left us a total of Z8 members. Our social activities included a hay ride to the State Lake at Mt. Gilead in the fall of the year. We had such a grand time that we returned to the same spot for our last-day-of'school picnic. Several of us enjoyed the privilege of waiting tables at the Junior'Senior Banquet, and we were invited to join the dancing after dinner had been served. And so we soared into the junior year with big plans, and we are proud to say most of them have been successfully com- pleted. Our moneywnaking activities included selling pop and hot dog sandwiches at Basketball games, and the selling of CHS pins, emblems, and hats at various intervals. April ll, will be a happy, happy day because our class .rings will be here. We held a skating party at the Mansfield Park Rink early in the fall, but have been too busy ever since that time, for much social activity. There are twenty'four juniors and we are well represented in all school activities and projects. Our class play, Here Comes Patricia, was an outstanding success, starring Wilma Deel as Patricia and Bud Higgins as the hero, jimmy Clark. Betty Mae Levering as Minnie Knoop, a man'crazy maiden, bro' ught her share of laughs. Prom plans are under way and we shall always remember the grand time we had this year. --Wilma Deel I i 1 First Row: John Van Horn, Lewis Ebersole, junior Snyder, Marshall Weikel Second Row: Dixie Denman, Mary Nauman, Josephine Jame s, Norma Jones, Lucille Dailey, Lea Randolph, Shirley Trowbridge, Bonnie Campbell, Mae Bachelder Third Row: Virginia Tippett, Maxine Hair, Wanda Bughman, Marilyn Craig, Ola Squires, Dorotha Kile, Barbara Denamn, Mrs. Hoffrnire, Advisor 5. We lost two members during the year, Dorothy Hauger and Charlotte Heslep. We presented a play What Are You Going to Wear ? directed by Miss Brands. September 10, 1945, twenty-nine members entered Chesterville School doors not as Freshmen, but as jolly Sophomores. We lost one member Lela Randolph, but gained one, james Wertz. One of the highlights of this year was a roller skating party at Mansfield, November 10 with Mrs. Hoffmire our class advisor, and Mr. and Mrs. Alspach as guests. In March we presented a play at a Band Mother's Meeting, Dates, Incorporated, directed by Mrs. Kendall. Wanda Baughman O I48 I I FRESHMAN CLASS HISTORY There were twenty-three members enrolled in the Freshman Class this year, and we have been very for' tunate not to lose any. Our class thinks it is the best one in the school, and there is never a dull moment when a freshman is around. Miss Kaye Roby, the music teacher, is our class advisor this year, and we are settled in the Music Room. We had a hayride which was a very exciting event, and will always be remembered by the Freshmen along with our other parties. The Freshman Class is very proud of its members on the undefeated reserve team. Phyllis Healea I C49 I I Lf Cgilzm mmf 1 4 s lf? Our band is composed of Z4 members, and has been outstanding in musical affairs of the community for quite a few years. The band played at basketball games, Band Mothers Meetings, The Sparta High School Senior Play and other public performances. l The Mixed Chorus is one of the largest and most outstanding of the schools organizations. The chorus this year consists of 44- mem' bers, and has participated in several community events. They parti- cipated in the Christmas Operetta with a Christmas Song, and they sang Smoke Gets In Your Eyes at a Band Mothers Meeting. The group will probably contribute several selections to the Spring Music Festival There are many other smaller groups of music organizations too numerous to mention. There are several singing teams, trios, quartets, double quartets, etc. The beginners in the instrumental are gaining practical band ex' perience with a junior orchestra organization which will be valuable as training for playing their instruments with others.
