The members work hard to maintain these fine qualities. Also the members participate in inter-mural activities, such as discussions and induction ceremonies. STUDENT COUNCIL Student Council consists of, SEATED: Kathy Barlow, Tina Troisi, Sue DeGrush, Rene Woo Mary Wood, and Nancy Stewart; STANDING: Dan Schaefer, David Schaefer, Craig Leggett, Bob Swan, John Palermo, and Bob McGowan. Officers are as follows: President, Mary Wood; Vice-President, Bob Swan; Secretary, David Schaefer; Treasurer, John Palermo. BAND The outstanding moments to Band members are its performances; and patience plus many hours in the practice room are what finally achieves the desired effect. Besides the music itself, the spirit of harmony through effort is probably its most satisfactory by-product. Soothing Music . Band Means And a Crowded instrument room. 48 CHORUS The Chorus performs several times a year at concerts and at Graduation. Most remem- bered by members, though, are the afternoon practices -- the warm-up drills, the breathing exercises, and the songs rehearsed simply for the satisfaction of the Chorus itself. The Junior Band consists mainly of junior high students. This group is a welcome addition to our Senior Band concerts. Enthusiasm and perseverance arc most characteristic of its mem- bers. 49 Each year, students representing area schools, perform in the annual All State music festival. This year, C.H. S. sent six students: Mary Wood, Bill Aiken, Dennis Packer and Patti Gibb for chorus and Dale Smith and Peggy Sue Hill for band. STATE THE MAJORETTES lead the band at the Memorial Day and Fireman's Day parades. Wearing colorful red and white uniforms, they perform in a series of twirling routines. Included in the group are Jeanne, Pat, Vicky, Leigh, Peggy Sue, and their newest members — Mary and Darlene. MAJORETTES 50 51 s This year the Press Club gained a large number of enthusi- astic new reporters after having combined with a syndicated student newspaper call the Student Voice. THE PANTHER, our school newspaper, is published on a monthly basis and is now a printed, rather than a mimeographed paper which gives reports of school as well as town activities. It is coedited by Vicky Palermo and Patricia Woods. Although they were later defeated in a thrilling bat- tle against rival Newcomb to decide which team was to be champion of the entire Marcy Conference, they certainly had a season which C.H. S. can be proud of. ° 1969 C C E R Although it's quite difficult trying to get our baseball PANTHERS together for a picture in the fall; the team usually ends up consisting of fourteen or more talented young prospects. In 1969, the PANTHERS captured second place in the southern Marcy Conference and later traveled to North Creek where they de- feated rival Newcomb in a play-off game. This year the PANTHERS will be starting the 1970 season with the same pitching staff that posted a 7-1 record last year in Bob Swan and John Palermo and are hoping to retain their highly victorious record. 61 ADVERTISING Best Wishes To The Class of 1970 CIRCLE ® RANCH Riding Stable and Housekeeping Cottages Mac and Joe Boggia Compliments of Compliments of CHESTER DINER Chestertown, N.Y.
