We like to rock n roll, iitterbug, or just plain spin those discs. We've twisted the English Ianguage, around to suit our own meanings, too. To us, something real hot is cool, and when we dig something, we don't need a shovel. Our diet of hamburgers, french fries,,and cokes may seem impossible, our cat hats, class rings, and going steady hearts foolish, and our ideas of fun impractical-but we wouldn't be normal American kids minus our fads and fancies. Eagerly anticipating all that lay ahead of us, we elected Bob Hicks, president, Jerry Goldstine, vice president, Alice Boo, secretary, Ed Tilden, treasurer, and Roger Greene, student council representative. Al Gaston was elected student council presi- dent over Roger Greene after a short, but hard- working campaign. Puppy Love was the theme of the Fall Fiesta. Trimming St. Patrick's Hall with real doggy deco- rations and making bids with stuffed puppies attached kept us busy. Judy Brooks, Barbara Danderson, Fran Ely, and Judy Schultz placed first in Opportunity Night with their quartet The Four Notes, while Roger Greene, pianist, took second place. Carol Pearson and Juliet Morgan also represented the seniors with their act, I'm Just a Girl Who Can't Say No. Rushing to meet Singing Sands deadlines, work- ing on outside reading reports for Mr. Munro, and practicing long hours on the Senior Play we learned to cooperate and to take responsibility. As the prom, Senior Day, Baccalaureate, and Commencement drew nearer, we realized that our final year at CHS was drawing to a swift close. Advising and helping us in our activities were Mrs. Janet Davis, Mrs. Mary Dold, Mr. Warren Munro, and Mr. Cyral Turner. 5 ' 0 ' ' 1-go-Q-Q si. -law -9-4. 1 Graduating seniors: You have reached the pinnacle of one of your most important goals in life. Having reached that pinnacle and now having had some short time to survey the situation, you find it is not quite like you had expected. It is for the most part a happy time, but mingled with that happiness are also some regrets. You had probably thought that this moment would bring big opportunities, but now you realize that you have been living with big opportunities daily and had failed to recognize many of them. You had expected graduation to be the answer to life's problems, but now you find that life still presents its problems. These mixed emotions which may seem a little confusing and even somewhat frustrating are only part of the broadening cultural background that you have been gaining for yourself and if properly used will help you in the future to make wise choices and decisions of good iudgment for your personal welfare and for the gen- eral welfare of your community. l, as your principal, ioin with all of your teachers in sincere congratulations to you and assure you that we have had much personal satisfaction in having had some part in your attainment. We hope that your future will bring much of the personal gratification that you have experienced in your school life, especially during your 1957 graduating week. i Respectfully, Principal DAVID H. 'N fiif ' 4 CLASS OFFICERS: Leonard Jersey, Paul Seigh, Brenda Meyers, Nancy Hokanson, Dennie Dille, JUNIORS Oh, to be an upperclassman! New responsibili- ties were placed on our shoulders, but we handled them well. Denny Dille, president, Nancy Hokanson, vice president, Brenda Meyers, secretary, Leonard Jersey, treasurer, and Paul Seigh, student council representative, led us in our efforts to raise money for the prom. Selling magazines and popcorn were a few of the proiects we undertook. Jeanne Manning, Phyllis Hyde, Carol Lindstedt, Lee Clevenger, Carol Anderson, and Paul Seigh participated in Screen Door, an Opportunity Night skit which won first place. Other iunior acts were a piano solo by Judy Van Loon and The Flat Tops, made up of Walter Oke, Dan Gould, Dennis Dille, and Bruce Davison. Then the big event arrived-the PROM! We could hardly believe that the day we had planned and worked for so long had come . . . and gone. Our sponsors, Mr. John Brunton, Miss Leona Burrus, Miss Betty Perkins, and Mr. Ralph Shields, assisted us in our projects. FRESHMEN Puzzled by high school life at first, we soon gathered the facts from older schoolmates. John Dresh, president, George Maney, vice president, Susan Howard, secretary, Pat Pearson, treasurer, and Tim Bagby, student council repre- sentative, were elected to lead us in our first year. John Dresh, Tim Bagby, Ream Lazaro, and Allen Hankosky were in lmpatience and lmprudence, a comedy skit that took second place in Oppor- tunity Night. Janet Bergquist, Kathy Carmody, Sue Davis, Sue Howard, Pat Pearson, Mary Slont, Betty Smith, and Adele Waugh won second place with their Harmonette singing, and Bonnie Dillon, soloist, also took part.
