SENIOR CLASS HISTORY lt all started in 1952 when the old hands from Chesterton Junior High and the new re- cruits from St. Pat's began the adventurous task of making themselves into a unified, capable class. In their initial election they chose Sandy Young for president, Dick Hokanson, vice presi- dent, Carol Groff, secretary, Warren Ormiston, treasurer, and John Lascoe, Student Council Rep- resentative. Opportunity Night was their first chance to work as a team and they came out in first place with The Man I Love and Melancholy Baby. Then came the exciting Freshman-Sopho- more Reception making them full-fledged stu- dents of CHS. ln May the freshman class party was held in the gym. Crepe paper streamers spelled out Class of '56. They iust laughed. It was a long way off. lg N' 'sr ' : Bef ' . Each day under the leadership of John Lascoe, president, Carol Groff, vice president, Kathleen Earley, secretary, Warren Ormiston, treasurer, and Karen Wallin, student council representative, they came closer to their goal of becoming a true class. As hosts of the Freshman-Sophomore Reception they had that experienced feeling of knowing the ropes. A class picnic and dance at Goodfellow Camp terminated their second year of learning and laughing.
