Notes on ... C.H.S. YELLOWJACKET BAND When September rolled around, the first project for the Band was putting together colorful half-time shows for the home football games During September, they also marched in the Popeve Picnic parade. In October, there was the Homecoming parade and the big game Selling sausage and cheese was the first fund raiser of the year. In December came the orange and □ efruit drive and the start of basket-games. The pep band participated in all home games as well as the week-long Chester Invitational Tournament Tne 32nd annual Tri-City Band Festival was held at Sparta in March Other parades attended were Loyalty Day in Carlyle, with the band bringing home a first place trophy. Memorial Day in May. Red Bud during |une. and In- dependence Day parade at Steeleville On a Rainy day in May. the band stood in the street and collected money for Tag Day. The C H S. Band is supported by a group of parents known as the Music Patrons. The concert band performs twice each year for the Christmas and Spring Awards concerts. The Marching Yellowjackets have received many first place trophies during competition parades.
