f Dedication We would like lo dedicate your yearbook to a lady who has for nine years been a teacher at C.H.S. Though she was the teacher, ours was the choice w hether or not to learn. We chose learning. She is an easy-going person who makes classes an enjoyable experience. Not only has she shared her know ledge, but she has shared her sense of humor as well. Her witty remarks lightened the drudgery of Shakespeare and Milton for many of us. There were many nights when English IV students would ask: Shall I compare thee to a summer's day — that is the question: whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer through this class and memorize this before tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow . . . or to sleep. It was Donne who said, . . every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. We dedicate this book to one who is a part of all of us ... Names like Brunhofer. Melchers, Reiss. Yu. and MeCammon replaced the names of Mueller, Pautler. Dungey and Granger as Sting leaders and continued as their goal the publication of a school newspaper that maintained the principles of good journalism. With the passing of 1979-80. the names of Melchers, Yu and MeCammon have passed by the editorial wayside to be replaced by others who will try to maintain the Sting’s principles for another year. Not to be outdone by Murphysboro's ’Towel-Gang” while attending an away basketball game, a group of boys from CHS decided to form a group that would support our basketball team in a similar way. Later that evening a comment was made by one of the members that the CHS basketball team, sitting together in the bleachers in their newly acquired black sports shirts, resembled a bunch of black knights.” Thus, the group with its impressive name was bom.
