The 1965 queen and her royal court. Cinderella Cheryl Gardiner performs a solo dance at the May Fete festivities. The Cinderella May Fete of 1965 lived up to its reputation in beauty, grace, and showmanship. The decorations were by far the most beautiful and spectacular in their vivid tints and shades of green, orange, and yellow. The mice holding up the standards were winsome little rascals. The beautiful throne with the huge crown on top was a suitable setting for our beautiful May Queen and her attendants. The Cinderella theme was carried out very effectively throughout the program: the mean step-mother, the selfish step sisters, and yes! the handsome prince and our lovely Cinderella. These, along with all the loyal subjects of the kingdom, came to pay homage to Her Highness—the May Queen. The new queen, Sandra Howie, was crowned by the retiring queen, Monna Morgan. The special Maids of Honor were Joan Schaardt, Susan Springer, Gay Lynn Usher, and Cathey Welge. The program was planned and worked out by Mrs. Juer-gens and her entire physical education classes. The beautiful decorations and programs were under the direction of Mrs. Paetzhold, assisted by her art classes. The music was furnished by the Rhythm Rascals under the direction of Mr. Birch-ler. The beautiful, traditional dances—the May Pole Dance by the senior girls and the Garland Dance by the junior girls— together with all the specialties and group numbers again made a very impressive, spectacular, and beautiful program. Cathy Favier, Paula DiBenedetto, and Sheila Linton prepare a witch's brew. 13 The sophomore girls perform a novelty dance.
