Members are quite proud to have an article, Model Farm Showing Application of Conservation Principles , by Bruce Colbert and Clarence Hoenig published in the Illinois Iunior Acad- emy of Science Yearbook for 1946. The article describes a project made by Clarence Hoenig and Bruce. lncluded in the Yearbook is the Ferreters' lnitiation, written by Mrs. Lindsey and the club members of the first year. The Ferreters are working on a news letter to be sent to Iunior Academy clubs in the slCil9 weve-ral of the Ferreters worked on a Sci ence Service Co Protect with Science Clubs of America Buth Hoffman Norma Casten and Herbert Kerkover were in charge This spring the Ferreters will be represented at three science meetings The state meeting of the lllinois Iunior Academy at Bradley Uni versity Peoria May 2 3 the Divisional Meet ma of the Iunior Academy at Carbondale April 19 and the Missouri Academy of Science at St louis ln December four science students took the Science Talent Search. They were Lois Bean, Marion Veath, Bob Schopfer, and Iolm Wol- shock. Marion Veath won honorable menf tion, which means that she was rated one of the 300 highest out of l6,558 seniors. She is winner of the lllinois Science Talent Search. These four students are honorary members of the Ferreters and are members of the STS Club. Herschel Stewart is the only member of the Ferreters who has belonged to the club five years. He first joined in the eighth grade, This year the Ferreters celebrate their tenth anniversary. The club was organized during the school year of l937fl938 under the sponsorship of Mrs. Audry Hill Lindsey, who is now an instructor at the University High School, University of lllinois, Urbana, Delbert Rainey was elected to serve as the first presi- dent. Perf formances completed include singing at open-house, the Christmas program, the spring concert, baccalaureate and graduation. The girls' ensemble sang for the Women's Club, the Rotary Club, noon hour programs, and the assembly troupe. Every Tuesday and Thursday morning we hold practice sessions to perfect our act.
