Had they gone through with our class they would have seen another side of it. For instance: Many hoys deliherately hroke their pencil points just to get to pass the desk of their loved one on the way Io the pencil sharpener. Such pranks were carried as far as the sixth grade. ln the first four or Eve years school was taken as something that had to he done i'e- gardless of whether it was liked or not. The lvoys and girls of our class worked feverishly all Clay just to get to chase and light each other on the way home. Our class took lessons as natural hardships and school as an annoying pastime. Hut after the seventh grade was reached things hegan to take shape. Klost of the silliness left us. The real goal was get- ting to he understood lmetter each year. Xthen the eighth grade loomed hefore us, we found many surprises there. XXX- saw many things and learned many things that we never lrefore had even dreamed of. 'llhen came the Freshman year which is now drawing to a close. As far as learning in hooks is concerned, we have not a great deal more than we had in preyious years. Things happened and were explained in such a way as to put a new light on our ideals, We learned that the sky was the limit in reaching our goal. ln thought our goal was lweyond anyone-'s power to put in words, lint in words our goal is, Good Education . We Freshmen do not lack in activities. We have had a party and at this party not a few, hut all of the Freshmen joined whtileheartedly. Uur class advisors and other mem- hers of the Faculty were present to help us enjoy the party. Xve look forward to higger, hut it is impossilvle to say hetter, parties. Memhers of our class, not to he lvoastful, have entered into practically every activity in C. H. S. Thirty Seven ketlwall, and we were real proud of the way Coyne McClure, Wilhert Harrison, David Laymon, llaniel Magers, Herman Tilton, and Glenard Hammack played. In the Glee Cluli operetta, An Old Spanish Custom , Marcella Palmier had a prominent part. As we Freshmen look over our activities we lvegin to feel as though we are of some value, and as years go on we hope to he of more worth to our school. Memories of the first year which need not lie written down will come to us later in life. ln the Freshman year we lmeeame familiar with the struggle of mankind for love, honor, and all things man holds dear. XVe study deeply into the different angles of life. XYQ solve mysteries of science. XYe master prolwlems that could never he solved without the information gained in the Freshman year. Our elass is made up of all kinds of characters, lanky fellows who tind it hardl to get room for their feet and legsg middlessized fellows, who lit their seats perfectly when they sit upright: small fellows, who find it impossilvle to reach the floor with their feet, and heavy-set fellows who hang over the edges of their seats. That's us, hut mention the class that hasu't the same type of people in it. Seriously, we have reached the tirst rung on the ladder of sneeess. And now, you Freshmen, let's all pull together. and do something to make C. H. S. proud of us.
