Mr. Leckrone, Director: Under Leek ' s able direction the Chester High School Band has won a long series of firsts in District and State Competition. This year 129 medals were won at the District Solo and Ensemble Contests which reflect well-deserved credit on our able director. Mr. Leckrone Majorettes: Proudly leading our band at each of our home basketball games, our Majorettes gave sparkling performances. Hours of practice were required to get proper timing and precision. Standing — Mike Leckrone, Bob Messer, Myrtle Rowe, Marilyn Flora, Phyllis Jo Bechtold, Mrs. Van Camp, Alice Alexander, Max Frye. WE SHOOK THE FAMILY TREE Hildegarde is desperately anxious for an attractive senior boy to ask her to the big school dance. She tries everything but nothing works. Finally, mother gets her a date with Freddie, the only boy in school who wears knickers. He ' s a swell guy, but those short pants make him the joke of the school. She pleads with father to Let her break the date but father says, No! To make matters worse Hildegarde has given the little neighbor girl father ' s love letters to put in mail boxes. That settles it. junior J lau MEET CORLISS ARCHER Corliss, so bored she could scream, feel everyone is in a rut, especially her boyfriend, Dexter. Corliss decides to make up a fake diary, not her actual dull life, but an imaginary existance that would curl anyone ' s hair. Her temperate father becomes a raving alcoholic and a wife beater. Dexter becomes a juvenile delinqunt. Snoopy Cousin Agnes comes for a visit. Cousin Agnes doesn ' t miss a trick — so she reads the fake diary. Now the fur flies. Front Row — Rose Ann Bucher, Marilyn Metzger, Sue Leonhardt, Phyllis Burkhart, Norma Coning, Edythe Meyer. Back Row — Ted Morford, Maurice Frieden, Charles Zinsmeister, Helen Penrod, Barbara Elkins, Mrs. Van Camp, Gary Jackson.

Band has prov ed its worth many times this year. The band marched at all home games except one, and Leek ' s unique formations brought well deserved applause each and every time. Band students brought back many honors from the District and State Solo and Ensemble contests which were held at Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, respectively. With all their significant achievements it may well be said that the Chester Band has completed another successful year.
