Bet you didn't know that there are a total of 180 years of teaching ex- perience behind the Junior High and High School teachers. Teachers jobs are to have students accomplish a lot of learn- ing in the classroom during their teen years that will prepare them for later life. Teachers have to have tact, dedication, in- tegrity, loyalty, a sense of humor, patience and fairness in deal- ing with young people. Teachers try to tie theory to practical experience. Like medicine teaching is both science and an art, with a base of knowledge that's complex and constantly changing. Since learn- ing occurs throughout life, teachers and students are constantly changing. JIM FOSTER Superintendent The dawn is breaking, the morning comes. Students are waking, school has begun. The apple is placed upon the teacher's desk. The board is erased of yesterday's text. Each day teachers have the responsibility to tram students' minds. They show the quality of integrity to all different kinds. Learning, always computing in life’s walk to success. As the school doors are closing all will think of the best. Thursday night the girls' basketball team traveled to Chateau where they tost a dose game to the Bulldogs. At the pep assembly on Friday the seniors showed up in togas and sunglasses. Pep talks were given by the coaches and various humorous skits by each class. That evening the girls' basketball team battled it out with Cascade but came up short. Afterwards students, parents, and fans gathered around the boneftre for spirit yells and short speeches by the senior football players. Before the football game on Saturday, Neil H. and Emily VF. were named the 1983 Homecoming King and Queen by last year's king, Jim Fritz. The other can- didates were as follows: Darron D.. Pat H.. Gavin G., Paula D., Stacey D.. and Marcia S. The Coyotes jumped to an early lead in the football game against the Longhorns of Ft. Benton, but couldn't hold on as they lost 14-26. Coaches Graham and Puckett, along u tth 15 girls are in- clined towards a more positive outlook. Of those 17 losses, seven are within four points. Season openers proved to be just that — competitive. Friday night. September IS. the Denton Trojans overcame the Coyotes by just one point. Saturday night the Coyotes rallied to a 64-51 victory over neighboring J-l Rams. K. Van Dessel was extremely vital to the game with an all-season high of 25 points. Coach Jim Graham commented. The following weekend was a very positive one. as the Coyotes had double victories over Browning and Chinook. From then on. the season took its toll. Junior. L. Harmon, related the season was 'frustrating and sad. Not until the district tourney did the Coyotes counter with a win, when on November 8, CHS was on the right end of the frustration crushing the Valter Panthers. No, the season was not lost. Experience was gained and sup- porting peers made for better friendships. I know what I have to do to improve my basketball abilities! related a returning Coyote. With desire, spirit, competition, and teamwork, the Coyotes will continue to do their best. SENIORS, FRONT ROW: Al. Standiford. J. Ronshaugen. H. Wodarz. BACK ROW: P Demuren. R Fenger. L.Jensen. COACH It 's a little late girls In August, 14 returning let termen and a strong sophomore class returned to the gridiron with high hopes for a conference championship. The team started the season by playing the Shelby Coyotes and lost 22-6. The Coyotes bounced back winning two straight games over Conrad and Cascade. The next two weeks brought tough conference losses. First, losing to Harlem in the closing minutes by one point, then losing to Fort Benton 26-14 on Homecoming. The next two games proved to be tests for the Coyotes as they beat Belt 7-3 and lost a tough game to Choteau 17-7. The highlight of the season was senior night when the Coyotes beat Fairfield 14-7. Richter COACH: Dmo Pha f After going to State tuo years in a row. this year's team battled through a 7- 7 season with hopes of going to State again, but this was not to be. When District Tournament in Tort Benton came, the lady spikers were prepared to play tough and bring home a trophy. Their first game proved to be a confidence builder, as the Coyotes defeated Box Elder in two quick matches: then the team was handed then first loss by the Malta Mustangs. Saturday morning the players had an early morning game against Geyser: this would decide who would go on to Divisional. The Geyser team proved to be tough, but the Coyotes won after two hard-fought matches. The next game was for fourth place against the Tort Benton Longhorns. Chester had to forget the regular season since the Coyotes had not beaten the Longhorns. It took a whole season to do. but the Coyotes finally came out on top. After a lengthy break the team had to play Chinook for the third place trophy. They had a weak first match, the second sau a stronger Coyote team and a rally to the end. but they didn't gam enough strength to stop Chinook. At the Divisional Tournament in Chinook, the lady spikers started against Malta. They tried then best but lost in two matches. Later in the evening, the team was faced with being eliminated from the tourney by Conrad. The Coyotes rallied but found they didn't have the extra edge. Over all the girls had a fun year. They learned to work as a team and were taught the importance of friendship. commented J. Ron- shaugen. one of the senior members of the team. Chester vs......... Chinook ........ Glasgow.........
