Overlooking the rainy weather, the parade after school was successful. The eighth graders took the first place honors for the second year in a row. The evening victory over the Refiners was close and exciting, helping to keep the spectators' interest, despite the cold temperature. The senior candidates, Neil Leitch and Tierney Lyders, were pro- nounced the King and Queen at halftime of the game. The Bonfire ignites school spirit. You are not to question why, but to do or die. 68 It's cold, but it’s fun.” What's the theme? Where are we going to build our floats? How much chicken wire will we need? Where can we buy the cheapest Kleenex? Who will donate the use of a truck? Who can we get who will really work? But above all, where can we find a garage big enough? These are the questions that can drive a person crazy. After all questions were answered and the details worked out, hard construction of the floats began. Hoping to stun the world with fantastic floats, we drove down Main Street and Highway 2 with Kleenex flying all over and getting strange looks from people. Finally everything began to look great at least until the rain came. The floats looked pathetic compared to a few hours before. Still, we couldn't help thinking that each float contained the character of its class, and was special in its own way. J. Brown, C. Kolstad, K. Marshall, K. Butterfield, Queen: T. Lyders; King: N. This was the situation as the juniors and seniors left for their long trips to the legislature in Helena. The seniors chose Feb- ruary 27, and the juniors March 6 as the dates for their trips. The day's activities included a capitol tour, a Memorial Museum visit, a feast at McDonald’s and an ice cream parlor, and a sit-in on Senate and House sessions. The juniors were able to observe the Supreme Court in session. The seniors observe the Senate. Everyone enjoys the dinner music. Just listening. fidum Within the confines of this yearbook you will find many memories of individ- uals, classes, activities, and achievements that were part of the school year 1974-75 at Chester High School. I hope that the education and experiences obtained during the past year will benefit each and every individual in the years to come. Con Murphy, Superintend- ent C £ I wish to take this opportu- nity to congratulate the Advisor, Mrs. Brannon, the Co-Editors, Jim Gilbert and Kaye Schuhmacher, and the remaining staff of the COYOTE” for a job well done. As you com- piled the 1975 ’’COYOTE” you experienced times of joy, times of disappoint- ment and perhaps even times of despair. A lesson can be learned from these experiences. That lesson is that the experiences in life that bring joy and sadness are ones that remain within your memory. Later in life as you look through the 1975 COYOTE” may it spark memories of your years at CHS. Robert Chvilicek, Principal If it is true that the amount of knowledge in the world is doubling every few years, then we can no longer afford to teach only facts or knowledge. Aside from the basic facts in language and mathe- matics , we try to teach methods of acquiring knowledge such as communication skills, classify- ing and interpreting data, and making hypothesis. I am glad the Chester School System is doing many of the above things.
