Seniors Observe State Government Upon arriving in Helena the seniors were given an informative tour of various pic- tures, statues, and rooms in the state capi- tol. Later they were able to attend ses- sions of both the House and the Senate and sit in on various committee hearings, the main one being Fish and Game. The mu- seum next to the capitol was also visited. For all who went it was a most educational and enjoyable trip. 57 Up and Down Varsity Scores Chester 6 Browning 13 Chester 14 Cascade 20 Chester 6 Fairfield 26 Chester 26 Sunburst 20 Chester 37 Simms 6 Chester 24 Harlem 0 Chester 66 Valier 0 Chester 6 Big Sandy 49 58 The Chester Coyote football squad ended the season with a record of four wins and four losses. The front lines on both offense and defense were made up of veteran seniors. Eight graduating seniors will leave a lot of holes to fill in the line next year. The backfield this year was young, but gained the necessary experience to be a great challenger next year. 59 All-Conference Rudy and Dennis were selected for All-Conference from the Coyote football squad this year. Rudy, a senior, was chosen as the offensive center and defensive tackle. Den- nis, a junior, was elected as one of the defensive halfbacks on the All-Conference team. FIRST ROW: Coach: S. Wood, S. Coach Van Dessel said the team hustled all year, both physically and mentally, but couldn't make up for the obstacle of size. The younger members on the team got the needed experience for next year. 65 Girls Basketball Because of the increasing interest of girls' basketball in the state, the MBS A officially recognized the sport this year. In the Chester Coyotes first official season the girls, with the help of co- captains, J. Schwede and D. Wolfe and Coach J. Gorder, worked their way to seven wins and seven losses. Co-Captain: J. Eight of the twelve wrestlers qualified for the state meet in Missoula. They were: B. Turner, K. Adams, T. Evans, C. Duncan, D. Diemert, B. Brown, R. Cicon, and J. Dolezal. Rudy and Jim proved to be the outstanding wrestlers by placing fourth at state. These young wrestlers, with this year's experi- ence, will be rated as top contenders in years to come at CHS. Trackmen Conquer Opponents At the starting gun the Chester Cindermen came out running and didn't slow down all year. Having a duel meet record of 2-0, Chester outscored its opponents with a total of 185 points to 110. The Coyotes placed second at the Bozemen Indoor, the Fort Benton, and Sunburst In- vitationals. Friday, one of the largest parades in the history of CHS formed on the west side of the high school to begin its route through the city of Chester. The honor of having the Number 1 float was presented to the junior class. A close runner up was earned by the freshmen. In the victorious football game the Coyotes, led by a spirited line and hard-running backfield, pulled way out in front from the starting vrfiistle.
