MARVIN KROOK Bachelor of Arts--University of Montana, Missoula; Summer Institute in Chemistry - Colorado State College, Greeley, Colorado; Master of Science - New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas, New Mexico SENIOR, OASS HISTORY In August, 1961, we, the Class of 1965, began our first important year in search of a diploma in Chester High School. Leading the way were: Gary Gibson, president; Camie Rust, vice president; and Allen Anderson, secre- tary. To represent us in Student Council, we elected Claudine Broadhurst. Mr. Glaim and Mr. Schroer, our class advisors, helped us sell our pop and candy at the football and basketball games. Class officers for our sophomore year were; Doni Laas, president; Dennis Hanson, vice president; Judy Olson, secretary; and Mike Violett, student council representative. The coaches, Mr. Van Dessel and Mr. Betz were advisors for our various events, including our Sadie Hawkin's Day Dance. To our regret, we lost Rick Bowman to Shelby High, Shelby, and Arlene Jensen to Flathead County High, Kalispell. Sayonara was the theme for our Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom, the year's biggest event. Dennis Diemert was unanimously elected President of our class; George Beeby, vice president; and Julie Hanson, secretary. Our two representatives in Student Council were Judy Olson and Allen Anderson. Mrs. Myron and Mrs. Twedt were our advisors. Three new faces appeared; Karen and Kathy Ward, who had been with us during our first years of school, and Cheryl Spicher. David Simmons spent one month with us before continuing on to Texas. Doni Laas spent the first semester in a boy’s academy in California, but returned for the last semester. Camie Rust re- appeared after spending a little more than one semester in Billings, Montana, We lost several friends that year: Melody Howery, Donna Huesers, Jack Ray, and Glory Stores. The class play was Harvey , directed by Mr. Carl Nordwall. The Girl's State delegates were Judy Olson and Cheryl Spicher; and Boy's State delegates were Gary Gibson and Dennis Diemert. Alternates were Pam Symms, Sonja Kolstad, George Beeby, and Allen Anderson. Thirty-four vivacious seniors met again in the fall of '65. The class re-elected Dennis Deimert, president; and chose Mike Violett, vice president; and Judy Olson, secretary. Our three representatives in Student Council were Gary Gibson, George Beeby, and Calvin Oraw. We lost Chance Eaton, Debbie Romain, Karen and Kathy Ward, and Monte Ward, who is now serving his country. We enjoyed taking out our revenge which had built up since 1961 on the Class of '68. Time went fast, and we were kept busy with our class pictures, announcements, and our class play, 'The Curious Savage . As last--Baccalaureate and Commencement. All the knowledge that we have acquired through the years is beginning to show. We are adults beginning our lives anew. We are leaving these halls with but one thought in our minds-----A CHALLENGE FACED IS NO LONGER A CHALLENGE BUT AN OPPORTUNITY. SENIOR WILL To the young, unsophisticated, and struggling FRESHMEN, we leave the key to all the examination questions that have been asked us during our high school days. (The key will be found tucked away in the pages of that immortal book, The Life Span of the Ape which can be found on the top shelf on the north side of the library. To the imbecilic SOPHOMORES, we leave the halls of learning. It seems nobody else has a chance when they are in them, anyway. To the imbibing JUNIORS, we leave our ability to ask more intelligent questions than just how , when , where , and why . To the TEACHERS, we leave a large economy size box of sneeze-proof Scotties, to wipe away their tears at our sad (?) parting. (And to hide their sighs of relief). We RON WARD and ALLAN ANDERSON will our ability to stay out until 3:30 on a Monday night to anyone who thinks they have the stamina to make it through school die next day. WILL (continued) I, GEORGE BEEBY, do hereby will my senior year's basketball ability to anyone who wants callouses somewhere besides on their feet. We, CLAUDINE BROADHURST and DOROTHY REMINGTON, do hereby will our ability to take an educational trip to the Havre Library and still get into loads of trouble to Carol Remington in hopes that she'll keep her boyfriends in town. I, FRED BROWN, do hereby will both my position on the football and my seat at the poker table to Allen Wickens. I, DENNIS DIEMERT, do hereby will my hard-earned lesson in love to Bob Hemmer. 1, ARDELL EVELAND, do hereby will all the expenses of my senior year to anyone who likes to be in debt up to their eye-brows. I, ARDESS EVELAND, do hereby will my place in chemistry to anyone who can figure out those lousy lab papers. I, CHRIS FREDERICKSON, do hereby will my ability not to have a science project to John Cicon. We. TOM GUMMER and GARY GIBSON, do hereby will our ability to egg teachers' cars to any freshmen who like to threaten school activities. 1, KEN HALVERSON, do hereby will my ability to be on a state basketball team to my brother. Larry, in hopes that he can make the team and that the Coyotes w ill next year! I. DENNIS HANSON, do hereby will my indescribably courageous football career to anyone who can get a broken arm and get kicked off all in the same season. I, JULIE HANSON, do hereby will those long evenings of fun with m cousins to Glee Murray in hopes she will make good use of them. I, RONALD HEIKKILA, do hereby will the contents of my car trunk to Rlynn Rockman because I feel he was quite unfortunate to take such a loss as was bestowed upon him that ''foggy” Saturday afternoon. I, DONNA HEIMB1GNER, do hereby will my ability to enjoy life tremendously and still pass P.A.D. to Danny Heimbigner. I, RICHARD HUNNEWELL, do hereby will my sensible driving techniques to A1 Stone. 1, SONJA KOLSTAD, do hereby will my dear old band uniform to Miss Tesch with the hope that she will be able to find someone who will wear the uniform longer than I did. 1, DONI LAAS, being very broadminded, do will them all, but one, to Bobb Rust. 1, LESLIE LAYTON, do hereby will my ability to keep quiet in bookkeeping to anyone who needs it. I, DONNA LEHMAN, do hereby will my first chair clarinet position to my brother. Melvin, just in case he gets tired of playing trombone. Karen and Tony will be sure to tell him what to do. 1, JUDY OLSON, do hereby will my ability to drive Mr. Pearson crazy to Ethel Markuson in hopes she’ll put it to good use. I, CALVIN ORAW, do hereby will my Zippo to John Fritz in hopes that he will carry on the Zippo Brothers tradition without me. I, CAMIE RUST, do hereby bequeath my ability to go steady with one boy to Donise Gummer. in hopes that she'll make good use of it. I, PAUL SCHAEFER, do hereby will my ability to be Mrs. Twedt's pet-peeve to my brother. Mark, but I think that he already is. I, RITA SKIERKA, do hereby will the Skierka professional talent and ability to play cards during the lunch hour to my little sister, Barbara. I, CHERYL SPICHER, do hereby will my ability to stay out late but get in early to Marsha, knowing she and Doni will put it to good use. I, MARGE STORES, do hereby will my ability to play Crazy 8 and still keep my britches to Diane Ellwein, in hopes that she'll never win if she ever plays with me again! I, CARL STUBBERT, do hereby will my ability to stay out of trouble to Mike Brady. I, PAMELA SYMMS, do hereby will my gentle laugh to the more exuberant member of my family, Marge. I, MICHAEL VIOLETT, do hereby will my quiet life after dark to Allen Wickens. I, MARY WARDELL, do hereby will my strength in boxing, ability to stay out of trouble, and gumption to quit griping to Roger Shepherd, knowing he is going to need something before high school gets him down. I, JERRY WOODS, do hereby will my fantastic ability to stay out of trouble to anybody who needs it. owes PROPHECY Judy, Claudine, Ardess, and Pam all met one day by fate, And at that meeting they decided to visit Madame Kate. She's the dame who’s able to see what will happen in ten years or so; So looking into her crystal ball, we first saw Pamela Jo. Her singing lessons have finally paid off; her talent is now world renown. She started the New Symm's Minstrel Singers on the money that Jerry did loan. For Jerry did gain his first million by carrying out several dares. And now he has retired to the South Pole to wrestle Polar bears! Speaking of wrestling, Mary Waidell did give up her tom-boyish ways; And now in the Parisian Hall of Shame, her paintings she proudly displays. Margie and Gary? Commercial artists - with their skills known the world roun’, While on the West Coast Marge a portrait paints, Gary designs a French gown. Leslie, Paul, and Chris have gotten together to improve the international game. To develop a larger, more powerful bomb than the Soviet is their noble aim! Great dreams of dragging on the Pomona Dragway belonged to Doni Laas; So if you see him driving a tractor some time from now, please don't try to pass! Julie wears a great big smile, she's happy as can be Taking care of the nation's money as Secretary of the Treasury. Calvin writes out government checks for acres that farmers divert; And, judging from Mike and Dennis's checks, for money they'll never hurt! Four more favorite sons remained to settle down in Liberty County. From their fields Dick, Tom, Ron, and Dennis all reap a golden bounty. Teaching kick-off and pass procedures was Ken Halverson's great ambition. But a shortage of teachers and a surplus of coaches has forced him to teach long division! Ardess became a C. P. A., and for an accountant she gets very good pay; But she says it's very tiring searching for errors all day! Allen, too, works behind an accountant's desk, and works very hard it is told. He must work hard at his bachelor's life, for his girls say he's much too bold! Donna, Rita, and Cheryl all caught their husbands with one little wink. Now they spend their days scrubbing socks and diapers in the sink! Our two little bits decided that reforming delinquents should be their work. But then Judy married an architect, and Sonja married a clerk. Bud wields a cleaver with a dexterity that everyone does hail; But when you buy meat from him, watch for his thumb on the scale. Carl joined the Air Force and he is now big brass . His strategy with the new recruits, no one will e'er surpass! Donna Lehman runs the White House where she is now a permanent resident. ’Cause since the election of '72, her title has been Madame President . Claudine was Donna's secretary in Washington, D. C., Until she fell for an ambassador and is now a bride-to-be! In Chester's new clinic, you will find our two great medical brains. While George is busy filling teeth, Ron checks those with eye strains. Ardell, too, did achieve her goal. She became a lab technician; And now to find a miracle cure for hickeys is her ambition! A husband and six children all make up Dorothy's plans. She gave up her nursing career to putter with pots and pans. Camie, too, married and settled down, and her wishes did come true. Two of her children she dresses in pink; the others she dresses in blue. Our class prophecy is finished now; that's all Madame Kate had to say. For ourselves, we all hope that we will meet again one day; And at that meeting we shall see if our prophecy came true; Until then, we would like to say. Good luck and God Bless You! SENIOR, MEMORIES Graduation is sighs and laughter Mingled liberally with tears, Lingering memories of one’s sharing Life with classmates through the years. Graduation is conclusion of work and fun, A milestone passed, new things begun. Graduation is excitement, speeches, farewells and applause, Diplomas and a mortar board. . . The gate to pathways unexplored. Graduation is an end, but also a beginning. . . The start of all the dreams that every graduate is spinning.
