Mrs. Miranda Weir, iunior librarian. -fl H . at Cro by 4' LIBRARY Our Libraries Are Popular Places for Reference, Reading, and Browsing Among the most popular places in our schools are the libraries. Every period of the day one Hnds almost all seats taken. Students are busy checking references, searching the Reader's Guide, delving into encyclo- pedias, and selecting books. Still others are looking in the stacks for back issues of bound magazines. Several are pouring over the large unabridged dictionaries, while other heads are buried in the latest newspapers, or browsing among the shelves in search of an in- teresting new novel or parallel reading. Our library is a beautiful and pleasant place to work. Eye catching displays greet us as we enter. We have a wide variety of periodicals, newspapers, and many books, although our librarians, Mrs. Wylie and Mrs. Weir are always eager to add to the shelves. We students really appreciate having such an attractive comfortable place of our own to forget ourselves, so to speak, in the world of printed page and picture. Mr. Rash, ceramics and art teacher, confers with Mrs. lda Wylie, our senior librarian. Magazines and newspapers are always popular. The library was our source for this bulletin board.

Singing is an activity and an art that we really enjoy. We like the marvelous variety and selections of our concerts at Christmas and our spring recital. We appreciate learning to sing in parts. We learn to love music and to express this love in our joy of singing. Late last spring our band had the wonderful experience of performing in the Cherry Blossom Parade in Washing- ton, D. C, The trip made by Greyhound took four days and those four eventful busy days will ever be remem- bered. We took sight-seeing trips over our Capital City. Much hilarious laughter and gay chatter filled those big Greyhound buses both coming and going. even if old man weather did send us snow in April on the way home. This season we have won second placefa hand- some silver trophy-in the district Band Contest and another lovely bronze trophy-third place-in the State Contest. We are looking forward to marching in parades, performing for other functions, and to presenting our annual concert in thc spring. All these things mean long hours of practicing both in the marching field and in the music room. In the Christmas parades, we had the happy honor of winning hrst places in both attempts at march- ing compctition. These honors brought us two additional silver trophies. Mr. Tyler gets that last parting word of instruction from a parent as the band pulls off tor Washington. Q 1 49' rf' qi?
