Mrs. Ethel Davis, director school cafeteria. These People Are an Important Part Of Our Daily Routine On this page you meet the secretaries, the cafeteria directors, our area cafeteria director and our maintenance supervisor. These members of our school personnel are responsible for many of the details that make our school life click. Even though we do not meet them in the class- room, we feel their influence in our school. Their jobs are detailed and varied and their services equally as val- uable, for without them we could not function as a school. Mr. R. E. Wilson, physical education and head 'Football coach: Mrs. Lavinia McDonald, physical education and girls' basketball coach. PHYSICAL EDUCATION Physical Fitness Is a Vital Factor In Successful Living Down the halls, from the locker rooms come the shuffle, laughter, and general turmoil of students preparing for gym classes, and practice for various sports. Whether it be calis- thenics, basketball, football, or various other games, these students possess a desire to better themselves in their activi- ties, to relax, to attain a better sense of body co-ordination and to learn the very valuable lessons of good sportsmanship that come with all games. Our gym instructors emphasize personal physical fitness, the unity of team work, fair play, and above all integrity of character and good sportsmanship in all play and in all games, no matter what the sport may be. They feel that these lessons learned on the playing field carry over into the greater and more serious game of life. HOME ECONOMICS We Learn to Become Happy Homemakers Oh yes, we can bake a cherry pie and sew a straight seam! We can do over old furniture and decorate a room. We can read pattern directions and win a prize with our dress creations. We learn to cook an entire meal and to serve it properly. We know that an attractively decorated table adds to the attractiveness of the food. We also are aware that excellent table manners are a must. We enjoy working together in our attractive, well- furnished home economics departments. We help each other and we work in groups learning to put in a zipper, make a button hole, or cover belt buckles, Each of us selects a home project, which may be the redecoration of our own room, an improvement in our kitchen, planting shrubbery, or a flower bed. We learn the value of calories, how to plan a well- balanced meal, how to buy food and choose meats, how to take care of young children, and how to budget our would-be incomes when we are housewives in reality. We also stress the importance of values and give and take in this business of home-makingg and we keep first and foremost always the fact that it takes good intelligent planning to make a happy home today.
