HISTCRY AND SOCIAL SCIENCE 1 F27 MVS. Grace Hendrix, World History: Miss Louise McCord, American History. Man, His Activities, His Past and His Present Are Discussed in History And Social Science The Sons of Liberty, The Declaration of lndependence. The Constitution, The Colden Age of Greece, The Glory of the Great Roman Empire-these are among the varied and interesting topics discovered in our history studies. A thorough background in our American history is re- quired for graduation. Our American history room is one of the most interesting in the high school. One finds there at times fascinating displays-firearmsff-and relics dating back to Revolutionary davsfcostumes our forefathers wore, interesting letters and documents preserved for gen- erations by families who lend them to us, and attractive pictures depicting our past and present. The study of our own heritage gives us a greater respect for our fore- fathers, a wide knowledge of the mechanics of our govern- ment, a deeper appreciation of our democracy. and a greater concern for our responsibilities as citizens. Through our world history classes we learn more about our surrounding world and its fabulous history. We are made aware of the contributions of people who lived cen- turies ago. We learn of colorful empires that existed and their relation to our life today. Our world geography gives us a fascinating picture of man and his natural en- vironment. We enjoy many vivid films as a part of this study. Our history courses and world geography give us not only a better understanding of our own country and its government but also a valuable knowledge of other countries, their forms of government. and our relation to them. .1 ,-1 Typical classroom scene-World Z History. r 5 X uno--4 ,Tr M N, ,K g 1 ti. ll.
