CHESTER HIGH ADMINISTRATION Mr. Mr Mr Mr TO THE CLASS OF '59 AD SOMEONE told you a few years ago that man would be shooting for the moon, launch- ing solar satellites and intercontinental missiles, you would have had serious doubts it could be done. Yet, today you are seeing this a reality and you are living in an era when science and machinery produce more products in a limited period of time than men and women of two generations ago would have believed possible. As you seniors step forth into the society in which you find yourself today it is necessary that you fit into the pattern of world relationship rather than that of a state or a nation. Modern communications and travel make us very close to other cities of the world. As a nation we must understand the problems of other nationsg and likewise as individuals, we must understand that our neighbor has his problems, You will be called upon, as in no other period of history, to consider the value of the human life. You may be called upon to defend the inciples for which we stand: thereby, you and your generation must properly interpret your relationship with your fellowman. If for no other reason than that of self- preservation, your generation more than any other prior to you. must completely practice the golden rule as laid down by our Master Teacher, Jesus Christ, Science, machines, and all the devices of man's brain will not be enough to suffice if we lose sight of the value of the human soul. You cannot take knowledge, apply hard work, and then mix the inf gredients of shrewdness, selfishness and personal egotism into your formula for life and expect to be happy. Rather, knowledge applied with hard work mingled with the understanding that you have a responsibility as your brothers keeper, guided by Christian principles, will lead you to a happier and fuller life. Your faculty, trustees and administration feel that you have received training in varied forms that will fit you both academically and morally into a better way of life. As you leave this institution, we extend our congratulations, our prayers, and best wishes for a full and complete life, dedicated to an uplifting of both the moral and economic status of mankind. ncerely yours.
