THOMAS HENR Y XVHITIZ Marrlr 29, IX65 I11111' Zl, 1958 MR. T1-loxms H14.Nkv WHl1'r was a member of the Chester School Board of the City Public Schools for a period of forty-six years. During the last thirty-five years of this time, he was chairman of the School Board. This record is one of the longest if not the longest service of any school trustee in the State of South Carolina. Mr. Wliite loved the schools of Chester. He was never too busy to consider a school problem. ln all of his relations with the school he emphasized character building of the vigorous type. He believed in honesty, truthfulness, and trustworthiness. Young people without these at- tributes never received any sympathy from Mr. XVhite. As a man he was most lovable and sympathetic, loyal to his friends and loved ones, hail fellow well met to his business associates. He was affectionately known to his friends on the streets as Mr. Tom XY hite. He is not with us in person, but his spirit lives on in Chester and will continue to do so throughout the ages. His life in this com- munity stood for progress in church, business, and the school. His greatest contribution was to the fine development of the City Public Schools of Chester. He was a friend to the common man, both white and colored. The old and trite saying is true as applied to this good man, Gone but not forgotten. if y . C7 II .J !!LHlC CltllIl
