No Day's Forgotten! ! As we look back it seems those very special days of our high school years will never be forgotten. Friends, activities, dances and school days hold special memories for each person. Students were seen going to such movies as 1 'Animal House'', ' 'Every Which Way but Loose , ' 'Foul Play'', ' 'Grease , ' 'Up in Smoke'' and ' 'Heaven Can Wait''. Disco's were still on the boom and songs like ' 'Knock on Wood'', ' 'Music Box Dancer'', YMCA , Macho Man and Tragedy were cruisin' tunes of 1979. The evenings spent at home were occupied by watching T.V. shows like Mork and Mindy , Dallas , Friends , and ' 'Family''. New Styles and fashions at the end of the decade involved new pants called cigarette pants. Top styles were similar to those of the 78 year; balloon blouses and tops. High spike-healed shoes caught the eye of many fashion seekers. High gasoline and oil prices were very thought about issues of 1979. Farmers also struggled with low livestock and crop prices. A Peace Treaty was signed with Isreal and Egypt by President Carter at Camp David. Looking back on your yearbook will be a reminder of ' 'No Day's Forgotten ! Tbey bad heard stories that the tower of the prison was haunted but no one believed it until, Marcel, a friend of the families, was missing. No one could find her so Bridget, the youngest Rockby child, phoned Marcel's parents to tell tm tbeir daughter was missing. Everyone got upset with Bridget and tried to find Marcel before her parents arrived. They all expected that the ghost kidnapped her but no one would admit it. It turned out that Marcel was taken by the ghost but they caught the ghost and got Marcel back. After learning that Uncle Bob's: Brad Bargmann, new job, however, is that of a mortician, they quickly change their minds. They're heading for home pronto, especially when they find there's another ' 'guest'' in the house, an old boy named Jason Quigley: Jeff Carruthers, who ' 'ran out of gas''. His funeral is to be Monday. Then things started happening in ways that would put most brave men to flight. Mr. Quigley walks around, reads the paper-and in general behaves in a most uncorpus delecti fashion. Through all of the confusion many romances were being developed. ' 'Healthy Babies, Chance or Choice'' was once again this the theme to year's chapter program. The chapter improved its financial status through activities such as serving the FFA banquet, selling Chester Flyer jackets, bakesales, concessions, and raffling of latch hook rugs. This year the girls were responsible for the stage setting for the Region III meeting. The FHA'ers also jointly planned the Sweetheart Ball with the FFA'ers. This year's theme was ' 'We've Got Tonight'' and was carried out in the different shades of purple. During the spring of the year, the FHA'ers hosted the annual Granny Tea for the Grandmothers, and showed their sewing ability at the Style Show. Goofing Around 19 Student Council On The Go The student council was busy this school year discussing many different topics. As usual, they talked about Homecoming and the activities that would happen during the week. Another topic was North Central Evaluation which sent the council forms to fill out to see what they thought about the facilities and what was needed. The cheating in Chester High was one of the biggest topics they spent hours talking over. The questions being answered were how to stop the cheating if any and if they thought the teachers were giving students the chance to cheat. It was a very full and productive year for the council. They started raising money for Prom by having a sock-hop and by selling magazines subscriptions. The latter venture proceeded extremely successful as the class accumulated over $3000 dollars. The class enjoyed rehearsing and putting on the play ' 'Finders Creepers.1' The play had its matinee in March and was a 1 night event. The juniors worked together on many projects. Selecting, receiving, and admiring class rings was the favorite past time. Because of the many activities the class was active in they found that the junior year brought them closer together. In April the Class undertook the greatest challenge of all. They decorated the gym, called the band, and the speakers and invited the seniors to Prom. The theme for the 1979 Prom was Sharing the Night Together.11 The band was ' 'Nite People , and the speakers were Harley Worthit and Warren West. The prophecy for the seniors were read by Edye Webster and Brad Bargmann. The class thought the juniors year was a lot of fun and they are looking forward to 1980. At the beginning of the year the Biology class went on a field trip to Newton Hills in which most of the sophomores went. The sophomores skit for comation was titled, 1 'Building a Restaurant.'' They built a restaurant using themselves and 4 senior football players. We like to have a good time together and enjoy playing volleyball in P.E. Another fun thing was doing a puppet show of ' 'Julius Caesar'' in English class. The sophomores that were in Biology class had an experience in disecting frogs, hearts, livers, and fetal pigs. During basketball season the sophomore basketball boys and cheerleaders were proud to get the title of ' 'Little King Team of the Week'' Which was hosted by KKRC radio station. We represented CHS in basketball, football, drill team, gymnastics, WTestling, track, and cheerleading. To finish up the year, 8 of the sophomores were chosen to be waiters and waitresses for the Jr. - Sr. Prom. It doesn't bounce ! ! ! ! It won't come Dow-n! Hawaiian Punch ? ! ? !
