Remember The Good Times Look busy you guys. Here comes Mr. Loomis! I'm sure glad we're friends!! Good Times!! That's how many of us will reflect back upon our high school years. There were also times of sorrow, but it's the good times that will live on forever. In 1977-78 we saw a new face take the oath of office for the presidency. Jimmy Carter was almost totally unknown until his campaign for President. He and our country faced such problems as inflation, farm and coal strikes, and the Panama Canal negociations. Some of the highlights in the motion picture world were The Goodbye Girl , Coach , Star Wars , Oh, God , Other Side of the Mountain, Pt. 2 . All over the country young people were dancing at Discos to the beat of many a new song. These include, You Light up My Life , which was number one, Stayin' Alive , Candle on the Water , Dust in the Wind , Sometimes When We Touch , '1 Want to be Your Everything , More Than a Woman , The Way I Feel Tonight , It's a Heartache , and Movin' Out . On television everyone was tuning in on Happy Days , Three's Company:, Quark , Laveme and Shirley , Fish , The Young and die Restless , Eight is Enough , Charlie's Angels , 1 M A S H , One Day at a Time , and 'What's Happenin' . A tear or two might have been shed when Gloria and Me a the ad left All in the Family , and when Carol Burnette aired her final show. All of these happenings will join our other special memories to one day be lived again in our hearts. We'll never forget the many friends we've made in our school years. Without these friends there wouldn't have been any good times. People needing other people make it all worthwhile. Through the years as we leave CHS, a small part will always remain with us because of the activities we've shared and the friends we've made. No matter what course our lives may take, we'll always remember the GOOD TIMES !!! Executive Staff: Editor-Lisa Aldrich, Co-Editor-Luann Minnaert, Business Manager-Roxanne Groeneveld, Ass't. The Junior class skit at coronation- We're all The 78 Seniors- True grit and ready for the big game! guts! Excitement was in the air during Homecoming Week, held September 16-30. The Seniors designated each day of the week with its own event; Monday was T-shirt Day, Tuesday was Stripe Day, Wednesday was Security Day with Senior White Wash, Thursday was Dress-up and Senior Respect Day, and then on Friday was Grub Day. Also on Friday a Tug-of-War was held for the school kids and the faculty! Coronation was held on Thursday night at 7:30 in the school gymnasium. The Juniors and Sophomores each put on class skits which the audience enjoyed. Janice Gasper and Tony Schmidt were the Mistress and Master of Ceremonies with Tammy Hohwieler playing the processional and recessional. Roxanne Groeneveld was crowned Queen with Dan Nugent crowned as King. Immediately following the coronation a bonfire with a pep rally was held by the football field; in the pouring rain! ! The Homecoming Football game on Friday night proved to be a great victory for the Flyers; they stomped the Duebrook Dolphins 45-0! After the great game everyone was ready for the dance held in the gym with the KISD Disco-on-Wheels providing the music. Homecoming Week was a great success and was enjoyed by all! ! Rita's mad at Fred because she thinks he's two-timing her. While Fred is trying to prove his innocence, Keith and Harvey try to steal the pop and sand- wiches, and blame Fred and Leroy. Also a mysterious prowler, Mr. Midnight, is lurking around the house. Fred is so desperate to get back with Rita that he and Leroy dress up as girls to get in. Finally Mr. Midnight is caught and Mrs. Dana explains the other woman. We would like to thank Mrs. Person and Brenda for their help. Above: You boys are fighting. Rest Assured The play, Rest Assured, was about two families who were battling over the marriage of Joe and Mary. Mr. Morlock, a tight business man was totally against the marriage. During his nap and between his pains and too many sleeping pills, he had a terrible dream of going beneath. During his dream, Mr. Morlock told his secretary and advisor exactly what he thought of them. Also, while he was dreaming, Luigi died and came back haunting Mr. Morlock. When Mr. Morlock woke up, he discovered it was all a dream and was very relieved about it. Mr. Morlock was definitely a changed person. Mr. Morlock also let Joe and Mary unite in marriage, and at the end of the play two gentlemen looking like Lucifer and Mrs. Scmalti came to apply for a cleaning job. The play, which was performed on April 21, 1978 included in its cast: Mr. Morlock, Scot; Mrs. Morlock, Dianna; Mary, Krista; Jessica, Luann; Mildred, Donna; Joe Lanconi, Jim; Luigi Lanconi, Dan; Martha, Eileen; Lucifer and Student Director, Barb; Miss Akers, Kim; George Plew, Dale; Mrs. Schmaltz, Laurie; Dr. Brown, Paul; Mr. Black, Terry; Mrs. Frinck, Angie. Throughout the year, new pro- grams and literature were pre- sented, promoting good pre- natal and infant care. The chapter improved its financial status through activities such as bakesales, concessions, and serving the Winter Square Dance Festival. The year's recreation- al activities included Daddy Date Night and Christmas Caroling. Chester took part in the Region III meeting by pre- senting a mini lesson on relaxer and song ideas for chapter meet meetings. The FHAers also jointly planned the Sweetheart Ball with the FHAers. This year's theme was You Light Up My Life and was carried out in red, pink, and white. The Student Council was kept quite busy with the suggestions from their fellow students. Some things discussed were having Prom held in Sioux Falls, but after careful consideration it was decided to be held in Chester as usual. The Seniors brought up the idea that Seniors should be first in the lunch line. This was dis- cussed and approved by the council. Also brought to the Council's attention was that if a class was plan- ning a Sock-Hop they should notify the office one week or more ahead of time. This was discussed and agreed upon. The freshman and Sophomores wanted tumbling out of their P.E. schedule, but it was also discussed and decided against. On Sept. 14 they had an exciting day, for the Josten's ring representative came with many new styles which they could choose from.
