Small Groups Keep on Singing The small groups came out with excellent ratings at the small group contest held at Dakota State College on February 12. Wanda Busser and Kim Augustad gave superior solos. The chorus started out the year with a pops concert on October 30. Selections were presented by the Mixed Chorus, Girl's Chorus and Boy's Ensemble. Chester was proud to have Donna Tollefson, Barb Ykema, Mike DeBulten and Dave Daniel represent the school at the All State Chorus in November. The two-day activities were held in Sioux Falls. On December 20 the chorus partici- pated in the traditional Christmas concert. The Mixed Chorus presented an array of Christmas music. The highlight of the year was the Big Sioux Choral Clinic. The all-day activities were held on March 16 with West Central and Tri-Valley. The re- hearsals and concert were conducted by Dale Grotenhuis from Dordt College. Each chorus also presented two selec- tions. The day was very much enjoyed by everyone. The spring concert was held on May 6. Various selections were presented by the Mixed Chorus. The Mixed Chorus made their final appearance of the year at Baccalaureate singing two songs. The Senior girls sang their last song at graduation. FHA-Impact Action-Impact was the project for FHA. The girls found that it was a way to get involved in the community. They had an ABC Play School. The ABC stands for Activities by Children. This year the Region meeting was held at the Flandreau Indian School. Julie Daniel was our candidate for the State Office. Many other girls participated; Connie Gaspar in the Beef-Cook Off, Dawn Simonsen in the State Newsletter Cover Contest, Tami Limmer and Jane Acheson modeled in the fashion show and Jaime Ostraat, Nancy Valland, Julie Daniel, Debbie Malthesen, Julie Rieff, Tami Limmer, and Sandy Minnaert presented a skit about Chesters Impact program. During the year fund raising was the major work. The girls sold station- ary and candy.The Sweetheart Ball brought FFA and FHA together. Queen Nancy Gerry and King Terry Gaspar reigned over the nights festivities. Granny Tea and a Style Show were held.
