The Marching Band had a successful season this year. They entered competition twice. On September 29, a day never to be forgotten, the band headed out for Luverne, Minnesota. It was raining when we left, and continued on throughout the day. Rain or shine the band played on. All their hard work paid off for they came home with an A rating. Then on October 20, they travelled to Springfield. When they arrived they had to hurry for the parade had already begun. But in all the rush, they managed to get through it. There was a lot of competition that day with Baltic being the toughest contender. Our band finished with a second. STANDARD CLARINET QUARTET: Janet Schlotterback, Marcia Meyers, Brenda Baartman, Joni Jones. The Band preformed at the Christmas Concert. One Christmas selection that was highly enjoyed was Cantique De Noel. They participated in the large group contest held in Madison on April 6. Their Inumbers included an overture by Beethoven, called Egmont, and a march called Gardes de Corps. The annual Spring Concert was held May 6. Among the selections played were the contest pieces. Congrat- ulations go out to Mr. Buck and the Band members for a job well done! Due to their part the concert proved to be very successful. 11
