In the fall of 1953 twenty-five “green timid freshmen entered Chester High School. La- von Petersen, Connie Malthesen, Jo Ann Barnes, Geraldine George, Diane Ottoson, Dean Dan- nenbring, Joe Spielmann, Perry Peterson, Alan Lidel, Jerry Hohwieler, and David Anderson came from Chester 8th grade, while Wentworth added Sylvia Zwingelberg, Sharon Rentz, Donna Stubben, Loretta Larsen, Albert Von Behren, Lynn Abraham, Darwin Limmer, Ronald Gerry, Rudy Schmidt and David Rentz. Bob Pederson and Robert Pederson came from Rudd School and Shirley Holbeck and Delores Lindholm came from Colman. As sophomores we gained another student, Rodney Nold, and lost Lynn Abraham. Our class participated in the usual amount of activities and had some parties of their own. Then came our big junior year. Our play, “Boarding House Reach ’ was a smash hit and everyone enjoyed putting it on. A new student, Gladys Von Behren, was added, but the class number remained the same as Jo Ann Barnes departed from the class. During the year the class worked very hard at the concession stand and made a good profit. The Junior-Senior banquet and prom was held at the close of the year. Many long hours of hard work were con- sumed preparing for the event, but the evening arrived of our “Southern Plantation Party and we knew our work was not in vain. Everyone had a delightful time. As Seniors we lost another student, Rodney Nold, which reduced our number to twenty- four. This year of course ends our journey through high school, but plans are being made by many students to continue to college or to pursue other interests. We believe we owe a great deal to our teachers and our class advisors during our high school days and we wish to thank them. As freshmen our advisor was Miss Currier, sophomore and junior, Mr. Far- rand, and senior advisors, Mr. Mewborne and Mr. Harris. As we leave high school and enter the school of life, each of us wishes to fully understand and live up to our motto: “Build for Character, Not for Fame.
