az KW!!! .Zo l- -5 P+ At the start of the 1987-88 season, the team set out to win the Housatonic championship and qualify for the Division I state tournament. This, however was a task many outside the team felt was improbable. Although failing to make the tourna- ment, the team, under the direction of first year coaches Bill Reynolds and Herb Fay surprised many and won the Housa- tonic Championship by defeating Branford 4-3 in overtime. This years' achievements were not obtained by the effort of one but by the combined will to win from all the players. The Cheshire girls' indoor track team, captained by Michele Capucci, Donna Fitzgerald, and Debbie Hochheiser, turned in a strong season by competing well in six open meets, includ- ing the perennial favorite, the Cheshire Invitational. Seniors turning in fine performances this season were Kristen Perrotti in hurdles, Ien Wallace and Eleanor Stone in sprints, Michele Cappucci in jumping events, Deb Hochheiser in throwing events, and Beth Leetch, Margaret Barbour, Laura Marth, and Donna Fitzgerald in distance events. Coaches Cathy Sullivan and Ed Lisk are looking forward to a successful spring track season with this hard-working team. The Cheshire High boys' indoor track team ended their season after six meets, including the Cheshire Invitational. Unfortunately the team will lose the following seniors next year: George Brough, Scott Buckheit, Captain Dave Hartman, Captain Pete Tassmer, who was the Class L champion in shot put, Brett Kushner, lim Kovach, Scott Toth, and Chris Trun- nell.
