This year, its second year of existence, the girls' soccer team had a rough season. Although they tried their best, the mem- bers had an overall 1-13-2 season. They defeated Ionathon Law and tied in games with Amity and North Haven in over- time. The team was led by captains Brenda Prentice, Amy Rodriguez, and Iennifer Shepherd. The coach was Ans Swan- son. High points for the team were the appointments of Bren- da Prentice tothe 1stHousatonic team and Stacy Bernklau and Sarah Casavina to the 2nd Housatonic League team. At the Boosters Club Sports Banquet, Brenda Prentice received the Most Valuable Player Award, Wendy Nestor the Iunior Wom- en's Club Award, and Cheryl George won the trophy for the Most Improved Player. m fn . Composing the team were Beth Pearsall, Pat Gallagher, Heather Nordby Anne Losty Karen Hardy Kris Otto, Karen Benevento, and juniors Anne Salvatore, Ruth Karabinas, and jen McGowan. This strong team had good prospects for a Houy Title but they had a few unexpected losses and the title eluded them for 1987. The team was headed by tri-captains Beth Pearsall, Karen Benevento, and Heather Nordby Two of the more outstanding players were Beth Pearsall and Pat Gallagher who were elected to All Housatonic League Team. Pat was injured and had to sit out the last half of the season and this loss of such a fine player was costly to Cheshire. The season ended with the team having a 12-7 record. Unfortunately they lost their first State game to Maloney Nevertheless, their winning record along with the team comradery will provide long lasting memories. l60!Sporm
