Doing such numbers as Seahawk, Russian Sailor's Dance, The Devil Went Down to Georgia, Alexander's Ragtime Band, and Firebird, the band placed second overall with its highest score ever, 97.45. In the process they won awards including Best Percussion, Best Color Guard, Best Brass, and Best Music. The student staff consisted of President Matthew Barnes, Vice Pres- ident Charles Perskv Secretary Susan Vallo, and Treasurer Ste- fanie Rosenberg. Drum Majors were jennifer Larkin, Mark Patrick, and Iennifer Weiner. Color Guard captains were Raechel Byrne, Amy Bouchard, and Iennifer Mattson. In keep- ing with their tradition of excellence, the band tried their hardest, put out their best, and gave Cheshire something to be proud of. Clubs and Activities X 145

W Concert Band The Concert Band, under the superb di- rection of Mr. M. , performs a wide vari- ety of challenging music ranging from classical works to show tunes. Besides per- forming, students also improve their music skills through instruction in theory and in- terpretation. In addition to annual concerts, the Con- cert Band performs at graduation. This year the Concert Band will lose the follow- ing seniors: Shellie Peck and Iustine McGeary flute, Kevin Dayton and Iim Ko- vach, trumpet, Sue Vallo, baritone sax, Sheryl Ehrlich, tuba, Ion Celeste, tenor sax g Matt Barnes, alto sax, and Tim Darius, Ke- vin Dzierzawski, and Charles Persky per- cussion. Stage Band The Stage Band is composed of a select group of outstanding jazz musicians. The band, led by Mr. Mancinelli, performs sev- eral times throughout the year at various events.
