Rampage The Ranlpngu has completed another successful year as Cheshire High School's student newspaper. Four first place awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association were awarded the Rum- prigt' in 1986-1987, for overall excellence in a school newspaper as well as Best Service to the Community Award. In ad- dition, the Rampage is working on con- verting to state-of-the-art Desktop Pub- lishing. The staff has enjoyed another year of journalism, looks forward to con- tinuing to support the school and com- munity and to exceeding all expectations. Spilled Ink Spillcd Ink is the Cheshire Hire School literary magazine. It publishes student work, including poetry short stories, es- says, drawings, photography and other reproducible art forms. The selections are determined by an editorial board com- posed of students from all four classes. Mrs. Mancinelli serves as the Spilled Ink advisor. in-...li S.A.D.D. S.A.D.D., Students Against Drunk Driving, was formed to prevent teen- agers from driving while intoxicatedsln its third year of existence at Cheshire High School, the club plans to make stu- dents aware of the dangers of drwmg drunk. S.N.A.R The Students' Nuclear Awareness Pro- ject tS.N.A.I7J is a new club at CHS. lt is composed of concerned students who wish to increase awareness among the student population about world prob- lems. Projects that they have worked on include the collection of food for the needy Toys for huts, raising money for UNICEE walking for hunger and various other activities. One Acts The One Acts is a competition among the four classes in which the members of each class display their theatrical abili- ties. This year's Senior One-Act play was Santa Sees a Shrink, or Yule Never Know the Troubles l've seen. Iim Gafney directed the play which starred Todd Yocher as Santa, Stefanie Rosenberg as Mrs. Indemnity Clause, and Sara Crutcher as the shrink, Dr. Ruth Lassi- tude. l38!Clubs and Activities Amnesty International The CHS chapter of Amnesty Interna- tional was just formed this year at the school. The group works with the inter- national organization to free prisoners of conscience throughout the world. By writing letters to the heads of foreign governments the students are attempting to end the persecution of political prison- ers. The CHS group also works to help homeless people in the United States. A . .

Student Council The Student Council is one of the two bodies of student government at Cheshire High School. lt aids the Student Senate in informing the school adminis- tration and the faculty of students' opin- ions and concerns about various matters. The Student Council is also involved in planning social events for the student body Magazine ! Homeroom Representatives During the year the homeroom repre- sentatives are responsible for informing their peers of class activities and news. This year the Senior Homeroom repre- sentatives also helped to make the magazine drive run smoothly They kept records of how many magazines each stu- dent sold, reported the value of the magazines sold by each student to Mr. Martinook, and they also recorded the prizes earned by each participant in the drive. l40!Clubs and Activities Student Senate Led by advisors Mr. Mazzetti and Mrs. McLaughlin, the Student Senate in the second branch of student government at Cheshire High School. lt acts as a go-be- tween for the student body and the fac- ulty and administration. The Senate's goal is to promote a positive school atmo- sphere by working together, dealing with problems and ideas brought up by the students and the staff, and by encourag- ing all students to become involved in extracurricular activities.
