Time: 1975 Place: Pluto Event: Reunion of the Class of 1965 Well, here we are on Pluto. Five hours of flying from earth isn ' t such a long trip as com - pared to the long train rides we had during training at C. O. Who is that neat little hostess so anxiously awaiting our landing? Why it looks like , , . it is NANCY CALFEE. We always thought she was kidding when she said she wanted to be a space nurse. Oh, no! Look, that cute couple in the bright red space ship is getting a ticket for speeding. They look familiar; maybe they are from earth, too. Oh, it ' s CLARA and Gus. Who is that cou¬ ple in the back seat, Clara? Your twins. Well we hadn ' t heard. Congratulations I Let ' s find out who this couple is that ' s been over there on the shore basking in moonglow. It ' s LUCY and J. B. and I do believe they are wearing wedding bands. Congratulations, you two! Gee, how cute! There ' s a couple landing in a big lump of Coal. It seems like I ' ve seen them , . . sure that ' s MARTHA and Bobby. Martha is now writing state board exams for students in West Virginia. These space cops are really on the ball today. There ' s someone getting a park¬ ing ticket. That sure is an odd looking space ship. It ' s built like an army tank. No wonder, it ' s BRENDA and WOW! that handsome colonel she married. Brenda is captain in the Army Nurses ' corps in Texas now, I ' m thirsty. Let ' s go over to the fountain and have a drink of Plutoshine. Watch out! Step back ! Here comes another speed demon and in a space ship built like a cow. That must be someone from a dairy farm. It sure is , . , JANIE and Harry and their one, two, three, oh four boys. You sure are working toward that five carrot diamond ring aren ' t you, Janie? Doesn ' t that little space ship built like a diesel engine make you kinda homesick for C. O.? Let ' s get a picture of it. Wait, there ' s two couples getting out of it. Well we should have known . . . it ' s SHERYL and Larry and MARGARETT and Tad. Sheryl is O. R. Supervisor at C. O. now and Margarett is Director of Nursing Service. Sounds like you all are really keeping the memory of the class of ' 65 at C. O, Look! Over there is a couple of girls dressed in star-flies. They must be permanent resi¬ dents here. They are coming over here to join our party. Well, of course . . . it ' s JOAN and JOAN. Rutherford is doing camp nursing and Private Duty with Bernie on the side. Kesler finally landed that millionaire so she was the first to establish a school of nursing on Pluto. We always knew you would make history, Joan. Gee, that ' s a snazzy white ship coming in out there now. Oh, it ' s another one of our old class¬ mates . , . MARY ANN and Ronnie and all the little Coffey ' s, Mary Ann is an industrial nurse in Washington now. I ' ve seen it all now . . . check that orchid space ship landing out there, made in the form of a beach umbrella and that lady in the full skirts getting out of it. Looks like . . . why that ' s DREMA GIBSON. Seems she has quite a successful marriage and is now the Director of Nursing Service in a school in Florida. Shhh! what ' s all the commotion at that church down the street? Oh, it ' s a wedding! Let ' s get a look at the bride. Oh, it can ' t be, I can ' t believe it . . . get me another drink of Plutoshine quick! It ' s our own JEAN CLARK and Mr. Wonderful getting married. Our congratulations! Could the honeymoon wait until after our reunion? Look at that silly couple in the paper space ship. Oh, we should have known . . .it ' s LANA and Butch. Lana is now the industrial nurse at the paper mill. Look out there ... a school of Plutofish. Oh no! it ' s TOMMIE and Butch ' s little Navy. Wheee-whill, a dress of thousand dollar bills and look who ' s in it BARBARA no less, being- escorted by Jackie. Weren ' t we the lucky ones to be the first class ever to have our reunion on Pluto? I also wonder how we rated this elegant banquet hall. I heard the rumor that our hostess had connec¬ tions with the owner, a fellow called Mike, 21
