The Student Council of Chesapeake High School is an elected body of students dedicated to school service and community activities. Each year the Council is responsible for the annual Homecoming Ceremony and Dance held in October. The Council sponsors the Red Cross Blood Drive in which seventeen-year-old students can give blood to help needy indivi- h ' duals in our local hospitals. Along with Beta ,tirwl'err-JQIJ 4-6392 , . Club the Council sponsors Teacher Apprecia- , ' M tion Day. Members help each teacher in the m , ' ' classroom and present them with gifts, flowers, i ' , w v V ' or breakfast. Fund raising activities such as can- dy bar sales, car washes, and athletic program sales will be implimented by a book store which will sell a variety of student needs: pens, pencils, paper and computer discs will be among some of the items that may be purchased in the book store. . 92

BOY AND GIRL STATE RUN GOVERNMENT This past summer, Anne Templeton, i i Rhonda Tawney, Carla Clary, and lisa Callebs attended Buckeye Girls State; and limmy Duke and David Gray at- tended Buckeye Boys State. It was really great learning about themselves and other people. They made new friends from all over the state of Ohio. Learning about government was really fun this way. They each lived in an imagi- nary city and participated in city func- tions and served them to the best of their abilities. Massie. K a y Wright LIBRAR Y WORKERS w ; .17 The library workers did a tremendous job with their studies this year. Mrs. Wright came up with a new idea - the use of library cards by the students. It was a smashing success because only eight books were lost. The library workers put up bulletin boards for classrooms, did book reviews for the school newspaper, learned the fundamentals of speed reading, and even taught special library units to classes. 93
