The 1982 edition of the Chesapeake High School Marching Band included for- ty-eight members. They per- formed in two marching com- petitions at Greenup and Rus- sell, Kentucky and attended the Jackson Apple Festival. In addition to providing the halftime entertainment at the Chesapeake Panther football games, the band matched in several area parades. These parades included the W0 WK Community Day Parade in Huntington, the Chesapeake Fire Prevention Parade and the Veteranhs Parade in Ken- 0V3.

MAJORETTES This year the members of the Chesapeake majorettes ate: Jlll Sheets, Jill Saunders, Steph- anie Ferrell, Nola Perdue, Kel- ly Smith, Sandy Moore, Debbie Shaffer and Kim Lockhard. All eight girls are seniors and decided not to elect a captain. Their instructor is Melanie Sim- mons. She helps them choreograph the routines that they perform at football games and in competitions. Earlier this year the majorettes attended camp at Wright State Uni- t versity. They also competed in the Hamlin Majorette Festival.

This year the Chesapeake High School Choir consisted of thirteen members. Chorus is taught during third and fifth periods by the new band and chorus director, Michael Newman. Out choir planned several concerts to be given during the school year. First, they performed along with the band at a Christmas Concert on December 13, 1981. They also had concerts scheduled to be given at Chesapeake East Elementary and Chesa- peake West Elementary.
