The second place winners in the State Demonstration Contest were Bob Yixon, Larry Heber and Frank Corrin. Other trophies won were in Leafs, fotatoes, oats and soybeans. Larry Heber and Bud Bila won trips to the International Livestock and Grain Show at Chicago for showing winning corn and bean oaijles in Saginaw. The l9S6-S7 High School Senior Band had a men- S bership of eo regular members with l9 apsrentices, mostly tenth, eleventh, and twelfth graders with a few ninth graders. The band this year as pre- vious years opened its schedule on Labor Day, play- ing for the annual Chesaning celebration, including parade and concert. The Saginaw Fair, also an an- nual event, was t'e next performance, calling for L T ,L - 4 + tho concerts SHG an all-nay participation. Prac- qccorwjck Johnston Valentine ticing marching and various half-time shows during the football season took up the band's fall sched- ule. The band put on several outstanding half-time shows at our hone games including, a Hat Parade, Hallowe'en Show, and Tootball Preview. The major- ettes entertained, as is their custom, and were thoroughly enjoyed. Durand and St. Charles accepted invitations to cone and brought their bands. We took ours to the Clare game where we put on a show with the Clare band. The annual Spring Kusic Gon- cert held April 16, was the big event of the year and also the area Band Festival which was Hay l, found the Chesaning band participating. The band also took part in the annual Decoration Day parade. This was the final appearance for about 18 senior members.
