Principal’s Message MR. W. E. CARTER A.B. Lenoir Rhyne College M.A. Appalachian State University What are you going to do with tomorrow? The answer is up to you. Thus far in your life many of your decisions have been made or influenced by your family, your teachers, your administrators, your church and your friends. But the time is fast approaching w hen you, and you alone, will be responsi- ble for the direction in which you will steer your life. In thinking of tomorrow, I always remember a special passage which has meant much to me during my career in education. This I would like to share with you. I EXPECT to pass through this world but once; any good thing, therefore, that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow-crea- ture, let me do it now; let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again. So I say to you, make today count, for it is the first day of the rest of your life. You cannot re-live yesterday, and you cannot foresee tomorrow; however, you can make today count because what you do today is the foundation of your TOMORROW. Always remember, no one can make you feel inferior but yourself, and the world will stand aside to let you pass if you know where you are going. In facing tomorrow, I would like to leave with you some rules for ABUNDANT LIVING. f PRAY: It is the greatest power on earth. | LOVE: It is a God given privilege. . READ: It is the fountain of wisdom. . » .'{HINK: It is the source of power. BE FRIENDLY: It is the road to happiness. GIVE: It is too short a day to be selfish. PLAY: It is the secret of perpetual youth. LAUGH: .- It is the music of the soul. WORK: It is the price of success.
